Huh, I can't believe I've never noticed this. Examples?

1)Why is this all one image?

Why did you need to quote it?

Because if it's changed later to be individual pics in the other post I have a quote showing what I was talking about. I also originally meant to just quote the Vader chestplate pic but was prevented from doing so as it was all compiled into a single long pic. So, since you asked me, why'd you have to quote it?

In case you ever wanted to really know what Artoo was saying to Anakin. ;)

And I do not want to see the bunny skyscraper in this thread...

Here's what I learned about and where I downloaded the Aurebesh text used for my graphic:

If your crop is water, what, exactly, would you dust your crops with?

2)A lot of that is just hebrew man. If you take the letters at the bottom of Vader's chestplate and plug 'em into google translate it reads "until he won". There's a mem in another pic and an aleph in another. So yeah a lot of it is just hebrew.

1)Because it was easier to slap them all into one image than uploading a bunch of images individually.

2)Inspired by it, probably, but is not actually Hebrew. And that's a myth that it can be translated as such.

Aurebesh is pretty much an invention of the EU. West End Games created it for their d20 RPG. It's based off of the display read-out on the Second Death Star when they're vetting the shuttle Tydirium.

It only appears in that one read-out in ROTJ, while the rest of the OT used a couple of different writing forms. Including the writing on Vader's chestplate that changes between ESB and ROTJ and also shows up on the control panels on the speeder bikes. In ESB, when Artoo speaks to Luke it's a kind of garbled english lettering.

Anyway, Lucasfilm proper found Aurebesh handy and has since used it in all of their video productions to date, including The Force Awakens. Which is fine to a point, but I've always felt they should be more diverse like the OT.

I never noticed either. I always figured that they use our alphabet.

Yes, exactly. In a civilization made up of thousands of races/cultures, you'd expect to find more than one writing system in use anyway.

^If we were allowed to used animated gifs as avatars, I'd suggest Danfun use it as his own.

Perhaps it's for the best. Otherwise, people would use jump scares as their avatars.

Kinda interesting that they still used English on the Tractor Beam controls.

It probably came in handy for the movie-goers that spent way too long in the bathroom, though.

I always assumed the digital release would just be the same as the blu rays, not the 4K special edition or any real original version of the theatrical originals.

It took Lucasfilm roughly forever to release on demand versions of the three indiana jones films.

Official announcement is here and now. NO MENTION OF OOT. Sorry guys.

But the PT deleted scenes might be in HD so this might not be completely worthless.

The sad part is it seems like there was no trouble with the 20th Century Fox rights issues. So they could easily release the OOT if they wanted to, but I guess the don't. I can't imagine that they'd do another release this year. That doesn't make sense. I think I've pretty much lost hope now. We won't see our favorite movies in HD or 4K or anything anytime soon.

I think they're just trying to squeeze a little more doe from those old masters before they make us quintuple dip with a new 4K release (if of the OOT, I don't know, but I'm pretty sure it's coming in some form or another).

But why now? Surely in anticipation for TFA. But are they really going to squeeze more milk from the TFA teat in a few months? If they were going to re-release the old masters before the "new" ones came out, wouldn't they have done it a year or two ago so as to not oversaturate the market with too many re-releases in a short amount of time?

Of course there's always the chance that they're saving the next re-release for 2017 (the release of EpVIII and the 40th anniversary), but I do feel like this is the big push year for the franchise.

Well, no matter how this shakes down, at least we have your edits to help us cope.

It's not really market saturation so much because no matter what they put out there, it will sell. This could be a great time for them to squeeze what little life is left in the 2004 masters before unveiling a shiny, new 4K transfer in some form or another. Then if they don't put that new transfer out on digital, they will continue to make money off of a decade-old transfer until any and all displays are at least 4K.
