The debate anything posted in "Warbler's Christian Thread" Thread

Author
Time

Multiple people are upset that I asked for no debating in my Christian thread.  Therefor, I create this thread.   If you wish to debate anyting anyone posts in my Christian thread, this is the place to do it.  I can not guarantee I will look at what you post here or debate it with you, but you can post you argument here and debate with others.   Inaddition, if you must mock/joke/insult anything posted in my Christian thread or me or anyone else posting my Christian thread, this is the place for it.  Please keep it out of "Warbler's Christian Thread".   Thankyou and your cooperation is greatly appreciated.

I actually don't want to comment or debate your thread's content. I was just expressing the technical issues with the thread.

Well this sure is obnoxious.

"Stay out of my thread, here you go, have another one I won't look at."  That's what you're saying.  Warb, get over yourself and get some skin.  Grow up.  It's the Internet.

Precision is a virtue...and certainly provides ease of access for those who might otherwise have little time to engage in drawn-out discussions...

And yet even with this method you were unable to get it.

...it was too far away...and I did not wish to disturb all of you by asking for it to be brought closer...

I gave you points for your effort, that is why I didn't immediately give up on.

...and where might these points be now? Please display them as I may need them later...are they redeemable at the carnival? I appreciate you not giving up on our relationship...it has meant a lot to me, personally...it reminds me of a song...

Why is it so wrong for me to create a thread  that for posting Christian things and not debate?  What is wrong with that?  I didn't tell you to stay out of my thread, just don't debate there and don't post anti-Christian things.  Aren't there more than enough threads for that? Weren't there more than enough threads to debate Christianity and religion  and post anti-Christian things before I created this thread?   Despite this, people were still complaining about the lack of debate in my thread, so I created this one.   Maybe I will look in here and debate with you (I did it this one time) and maybe I won't.  That is my choice.

There are multiple threads on here which debate woud be inappropiate.

Ender's emotion help thread

Ender's news thread(granted it has fallen off the radar)

Would you into Frink's "This thread is now about . . ." thread and debate the logic of such a thread existing?   Think he'd approve of you doing so?

Not every thread with the Christian in its title must have debate in it.   If you can't take having one thread on here about Christinity that doesn't have debate in it, you are the one that needs to get over yourself and get some skin and grow up. You are correct it is the internet, and the allows many things . . . including threads about Christinity sans debate.

Actually, it had nothing to do with technical issues, it was personal.

You refer to "his" (Warbler's) will below.

imperialscum said:

Actually, I personally don't mind if you have a personal thread where no one is to say anything. I was just saying that you should not expect people to actually follow your will as it is against the primary function of a forum thread.

He is not "commanding" anything, he just wants to post pictures and such that relay his feelings about his religion .... it is "your" will that does not want to allow him any quarter due to either the type of person you are, your dislike of his particular religion, or both.  Either way, you just couldn't let him be, you had to antagonize because you are spiteful.

As I heard Michael Sweet put it to a fan who was removed from the audience of a Stryper show due to his drunken foul mouth ..... "It's okay man, Jesus loves you".

Why does Warbler need to defend a position.  He just wants to celebrate his religion.  Why is there any need to try to belittle him?

Because he's "celebrating" his "religion" on an unmoderated chat board, by posting a bunch of anodyne, stilted iconographic pseudo-art according to some obsessive "schedule" he cooked up for himself (probably while self-flagellating in the throes of a late-night chat-board dust-up).

If that ain't asking for a-teasin', I just don't know what is.

If you call millennia-old Christian tradition something he "cooked up for himself," then sure, I guess that's what it is. I don't know why so many people have a problem with this.

He cooked up the compulsive "schedule" himself, not the goofy "religion".  That was cooked up by some deranged goat-herders like two thousand years ago.

Quite the goat-herders, if that be the case...

His "compulsive 'schedule'" is at least mostly not his own invention. There is no real established tradition for what is remembered from Holy Monday to Holy Wednesday, it is true, but the preceding Palm Sunday has long been a celebration of Jesus' entry into Jerusalem, and at least one of the gospels reports that he caused a commotion in the Temple shortly afterward. Thursday to Sunday have well-established traditions, most of which I believe developed over the first centuries A.D.

I was following a chart in my NIV Study Bible

On Monday it has:

Jesus clearing the Temple,

The cursing of the fig tree.

and the questioning of Jesus' authority

On Tuesday it has:

the parable of the Ten Virgins and the annointing of Jesus by Mary

On Wednesday it has:

Judas ploting to betray Jesus and and accepting the bribe.

While we can't really tell exacty what days these happened on, we know they happened between the events of Palm Sunday(Jesus entering Jerusalem) and Holy Thursday(The Last Supper).

No. If I was spiteful, as you falsely claim, I would do exactly what he said people should not do, i.e. I would debate about the stuff he posted. However I did not do that. I simply reminded him what is the primary function of the thread.

Most modern biblical scholars and historians today, both conservative and liberal, reject most of the parallelomania between the cult of Dionysus and Christ, asserting that the similarities are superficial at best, most often vaguely general and universal parallels found in many stories, both historical and mythical, and that the symbolism represented by the similar themes are radically different.[64][68][69][70]

Uh-huh, because hunting for brightly-painted eggs and worshipping an anthropomorphized rabbit have so very much to do with, like, some bearded  ghost guy haunting ancient Judea...

Do you understand the meaning of the word "principal" or not?

Many people note the same similarities from the Egyptian story of Horus, but further scrutiny shows that the similarities are very contrived and some not even there.

I read this ......  first post in that thread ....

Warbler's Christian thread.

This is a thread for me post Christian thoughts and pics and stuff like that.  I do not wish this to be a thread to debate religion.   Feel free to debate religion and Christianity and, but please do so in another thread.   Please keep anti-relgion and anti-christian  and disrespectfull stuff and mockery out of the this thread.  I thank you in advance for doing so.

There is NO DEMAND or COMMAND anywhere to be found.  You sir, are seeing what you want to see, in order to justify your "technical issue" postings.

If you are a decent person like you say you are you would apologize to Warbler.

besides, I don't have the power to command or demand things on this forum.  Only Jay and the mods can do that.

Author

By ImperialScum's logic, there should only be a "random thoughts" thread and nothing else.  Because if we aren't going to stay on with the topic creations intents, what's the point?

I highlighted verbs that grammatically qualify as commands. If you require any further grammar lessons I will be happy to provide them, as I am a decent person.

See, you say you are not insulting, but every word is arrogant, every comment absolutely correct.  Here, let me chat for a moment.  Yes, grammatically, both words you underlined are technically imperative in nature.  That does not make them demands.  He asked kindly, with pleases in both cases and a thank you to follow.  I spoke to a doctor earlier this shift and asked for an order of medication.  I don't remember the exact phrasing, but if I said, "Please give me something else for this woman's nausea.  What I'm giving doesn't seem to help."  Did I order the doctor around?  Would he be offended that I, the nurse, commanded him to do something?  Nope, because in spite of it's grammatical construction, I did not actually demand anything of him.

Your arrogance and self-certainty, your unwillingness to listen or be reasonable, your intent to offend and detract, your demand that you have the right to do whatever you want in an unmoderated forum because apparently courtesy only applies to real people, not sentences posted through cyberspace, all point to one conclusion in my mind, although TV's Frink has a pretty reasonable alternate hypothesis.
