I've always thought that the best and simplest solution for making Star Destroyer's crash into the death star look better is to slow the entire explosion way down. I would love to see how it works even though I'm not sure if it's possible to retain smoothness of motion when slowing down, because it's only 24 frames per second. Anyway, I 've just remembered that Adywan did slow down the slug from TESB indeed perfectly.
