I'll note it in my log.
I'll note it in my log.
Is it a big log? Is it awkward getting in? How do you see in there?
I was once…but now I’m not… Further: zyzzogeton
“It wasn’t the flood that destroyed the pantry…”
I'm afraid my views and beliefs on logs may be offensive to some people so I must refrain from voicing them. I'm sorry, I hope you understand.
Well I hope you're sorry I understand...

Nah I'm glad you understand, only God would be saddened at somebody understanding something.
If you think about it, did not God want us to be ignorant and not even know the difference between right and wrong? And walk around naked? Think about it. Do you really want to worship a God who is a sexual pervert (joke) and wishes we were all like animals? (not joke)
Since we're sharing paintings as religious thoughts, how's this?
*Offensive picture*
It's pretty ugly, I have to say. The only saving grace is that there's lots of red.
I love how repulsively ugly it is. It delights me.

To consider this in proper context, let us first imagine the corollary of such alleged preferences:
To fail to appreciate right from wrong, to be naked and uninhibited, to lack self-consciousness...do not all seemingly suggest the attitude of a child? If so, does not the allegation likely suggest that God preferred humanity to be innocent and child-like? Would not the attitude of a child--trusting, easily impressed, guileless, and simple--be more likely in keeping with a god of pure, uncomplicated love?
Indeed if such a god were to exist it might be possible to understand such a narrative...but only insofar as such a god might be regrettably limited in power to prevent the downfall of its creation. Unfortunately for the Bible, the god therein makes claim to no such lack and so as a result not only seemingly sets mankind up for a test He knows it cannot pass, but then seizes upon said failure as a clear excuse to potentially passively torment same for eternity--both in the physical and spiritual realm.
...a potentially strange arrangement to have been allegedly precipitated by Pure Unchanging Love...?

It seems unnecessarily provocative...it is certainly not likely to assist in Atheist-Theist relations...

It's hardly supposed to.
And that may be, but the fact that our intelligence as humans (some of us anyway) is contrary to God's design makes it hard for me to love or respect him/her.

This one is not only better than the original one with J-man and his gang but is also happens that the story is just as true as the biblical one (but far more interesting and coherent) :)

wow. I just wanted to celebrate Holy Week, speficially Palm Sunday, and it turns into to this. Sometimes I really, really hate this forum. unbelievable.
Possessed and Post Praetorian, I have lost a lot of respect for you.
Edit: sorry guys. last night I was rather sleep deprived and feeling very depressed and was in a foul mood. I was also coming a little to close for comfort to having suidal thoughts. the result was that I was misunderstanding people and taking things the wrong way and overeacting. I apologize.
Oh good. The non-theists always here to rain on others' parades. What would we do without such gestures of goodwill? Nothing like desecrating the most sacred aspects of Christianity because it's all make believe anyway.
Warbler, Post Praetorian, while not a believer, is not in any way condoning such behavior. Dclarkg on the other hand is deliberately being insulting, though not nearly as bad in my mind.
Possessed, I truly don't appreciate that picture. At least post it in a thread devoted to trashing religion than one devoted to promoting discourse.
perhaps I have misunderstood intent of Post Praetorian's recent posts in this thread.
I was going to post pictures each day this week, marking the events of Holy Week. I guess I will forget doing so now. This place isn't mature enough to handle it.
I believe you have misunderstood. I hope you will continue to post those beautiful pictures. I love Jesus Christ, and I'm happy to see him in such lovely artwork.

Possessed , do you like blueberry muffins?
No, I actually don't care for muffins, but thanks for your interest and concern.

You seem to have mistaken the 'religion' thread for the 'Christian monopoly' thread. Of course you have the right to share your pictures and opinions, but that doesn't mean I don't have the right to share my opinions too.
However, I took the picture down out of respect for darth_ender and others. It was insensitive. I apologize for the picture, but not for my opinion.
Also, it should be noted that my disrespect for God for his desire for humans to have stayed ignorant like animals goes only to God himself, not christians. And I am not saying that christians are ignorant. On the contrary, I'm saying that christianity's lack of ignorance is contrary to God's original design, and I find that something hard to accept.
And I don't really think Praetor even posted anything anti-religious so I don't see why you're mad at him.
I assure you, if you want to post more pictures that re significant to you I will not mock them. However, I can't promise to keep silent my feelings on religion. This is the thread for discussing religion, not the 'christians only' thread where you guys conduct an e-worship service and nobody with a different opinion is allowed to have a voice. I respect your right to worship God and voice your thoughts, however, this is the thread for religious discussion and I have a right to my opinion as well.
I do apologize for the disrespectful picture I posted though.

I suspect Jesus would appreciate more your continuation in the face of adversity than any immediate capitulation...?
For my part I will refrain from any comments herein until well after Easter to eliminate any chance that they might be misconstrued...my temptation to incite philosophical discussion is not to be misinterpreted as an effort to paint a negative picture of religion...
My own [uncertain] opinion is that a world that might entirely reject religion might be a world that might become all the poorer for the effort...much as a world that might singularly reject art and instead extol only the practical might equally become a world in which gray might be the only shade on sale...
Have a good Holy Week...it is good to have things to anticipate...!
Regards,
Praetorian

Agreed. That image may be on the offensive side, but not enough to use ublock on it, unlike a certain other image that thankfully has been removed by its poster.

Unfortunately your quote of Possessed picture has resulted in it being kept, (unless I block it of course). Since I don't believe you like it either, would you please remove it from your quote? Thanks.
I thought I removed it from the quote. That's why I put the "insert here" thing. I guess ublock worked too well. Sorry.

No worries. Thanks,man :)

Likewise, due to your hypersensitivity. You attitude toward Bingowings is so hypocritical it's hilarious.
I admit that last night I was hypersensitive. Please read my edited post above. However as much as I regret how I was acting last night, I am not sure how I was being hypicritical in my attitude toward Bingo.
The picture was in bad taste and I apologize for that, but I will not apologize for my opinions on God. I have a right to them, and this is the religion thread and I have the right to voice them.
I accept you apology in regards to the the pic. You do have the right to your opinions on God and you have the right to voice them. Although, I would request that you do so respectfully.

You are quite right, I did make that mistake. I am sorry.

I understand. Much better than I did last night. Since I don't feel like getting into a religious debate I will leave it there, accept to say that I am the kind of Christian that doesn't necessarily believe things happened exactly like the way they do in first few chapters of Genisis.
And I don't really think Praetor even posted anything anti-religious so I don't see why you're mad at him.
you are right and I am no long mad at him.

quite right.
Perhaps I will create another thread so that my pics need not be surrounded by debate. But feel free to debate here and voice your opinions here.
I do apologize for the disrespectful picture I posted though.
again, I accept your apology.

you are correct in that. Please read my edited post above. I apology for what I originally said. I was not feeling right in the head last night.
