Okay, I have never played any games in the series before and it always seemed like the type of of thing I would hate but I found The Sims 3 and two of it's expansion packs in Goodwill for $6, so in honor of Maxis going under I decided to give it a shot, good night this game is addictive!
I mean I sat down to play it and then the next time I looked up at the clock it was seven hours later and I have only just finished designing my Sim and his house. I think the last time this happened to me was back in 2007 when I played the first Mass Effect. I like RTSs, fast paced action games, and games with a story, this game should not be in my wheelhouse at all. Then again I do love Simcity and any game that gives me a lot of freedom with the game character, so maybe it shouldn't surprise me because this game delivers that in droves. Now that I think about it I did used to be addicted to Legos and these house design programs that came free with my family's first PC when I was a kid, so I guess that explains it as well.
You know if Mass Effect 3 hadn't ended the way it did I would totally buy at full retail price a version of the Sims where you could import your Shepard and the other characters from that game and control them as they live out their lives after the war. EA really missed out on a great sin off/crossover game there.
I can't believe how much fun I am having with this game and I have only just started, plus I think it may be the last EA title for PC that didn't require to connect to the internet in some way to play it so that is good.
I just can't believe this game has got me hooked, I really can't.
