I MUST OWN THIS AT SOME POINT!

Also is it just me or with a few rewrites and name changes could this story have worked as the story for the prequels.

I am not kidding.

It feels like a lower tech yet somehow a little grander and more conflict version of the Star Wars universe we know, I understand why the characters are fighting and what they are fighting about, and it makes the fall of the Jedi look like something that happened slowly over time instead of over night, and I understand why the people of the galaxy went along with it and trusted the emperor.

Also I could totally buy Anikan letting the hatred and grief fester within him as the story plays out if one of the first things that happened when we met him was that his little brother was brutally murdered in a completely senseless fashion.  Honestly, I mean the Sith didn't need to kill the kid and that battle didn't need to happen.  If there had not been a war then his little brother would still be alive.  I could see Anikin slowly getting more and more bitter as the war dragged on year after year and as he saw more senseless killing(and maybe a scene where a Jedi lost his cool in the heat of battle and killed some people senselessly)he would slowly decide that what the galaxy needed was order more then freedom to stop the bloodshed and thus he falls to the dark side.

Heck the scene of him killing children would then feel like it belonged in the first movie.  He got involved because a child was murdered in the first movie and then in the third movie after he gets in the Darth Vader suit the first thing he does he murder a bunch of children who are holding up in the Jedi temple.  His tragedy would be complete as he became the very think he hated and it would explain why he thinks he can't be saved in Return of the Jedi. After that the good Luke feels in him tells him what a monster he is so he gives up on trying to fight the darkness in his own soul.

You know what that is it!

In my head cannon that is what happened in the prequels.
