Harmy's RETURN OF THE JEDI Despecialized Edition HD - V3.1 — Page 41

AFAIK, the starwars.com audio commentaries have been lost to time, other than for Star Wars.  In fact, I remember listening to them as they came out, and I don't even recall that Jedi ever got one.

Hello!

First of all: Huge respect for the Despecialized trilogy! Thanks to You, I can show these awesome films to my son (7 months old padawan now :D)!

Any info on the hungarian dub for thiy copy?

May I boldly ask for a comparison shot of the Death Star II core reactor at the end of the film? I can't tell if it was the great detail or vibrant colors (lack thereof, actually) that made me drop my jaw to the ground when watching the Despecialized version.

If it's going to be using my archive, then this is how it breaks down.

Star Wars and Empire get the first dub, from the eighties, that didn't actually make it on any official releases until 93.  Jedi gets the second dub from 95, because at least according to my Hungarian sources, the first one was kind of a rush job and not up to the quality of the other first dubs.

Basically going off the info in this post:

Harmy- The new footage looks dang good! It's a bit late in the game to mention this, and I forget if you've mentioned how you're dealing with scratches and dust and whatnot, but you should check out Pixel Farm's PFClean. Maybee you can score a demo version somewhere?

Hello¡ Will the new 2.0 versión include the Spanish Audio Track and Subtitles as the SW 2.5 or the 2.0 ESB? I´m new in the forum and i want to give my congratulations and thanks to everyone who worked on reviving the authentic versions of the movies.

Most definitely, both Castilian and Latino.

Can someone recommend an internal Blu-Ray burner for around $50?

Might as well also ask, what do you guys recommend for blank media?

Not in this thread, we won't.

 Indeed, there's a tech section.

Interesting that he chose the one Harmy thread for a project that doesn't yet even have a BD25 sized release. :)

Guys, I know you were all worried about the eyebrows on Vader's face when Luke pulls off the helmet, but I have a better suggestion. Just photoshop Hayden's Christenson's face in there instead. That will help with continuity when we get to the end and we see a ghostly hayden there with Obi and Yoda. Right!? It will work perfectly!

Right?

Guys?

When it comes to the preview versions, never say never.  Harmy surprised us all by having Vader shoot at Han first in Empire Strikes Back.

Although I suspect when it comes to fooling around, he'll stick to fooling around with footage that doesn't need to have its despecialization reviewed.  So, you know, maybe the Rancor will get CGI blinking eyelids, or something.

Or every single character replaced with Hayden Christensen because, hey, you never know.

Hi¡ Is there a version of the movie with the 1983 scenes but the 1997 Ending/Celebration with the changed music? I prefer the originals, but i grew up with the Special Edition Celebration Music and an hybrid versión would be epic, with only Endor footage and Sebastian Shaw but with the 1997 music.

You would have to make it yourself. Generally the case with hybrid interests since no 2 people will ever have the same exact preference. Either way, this thread is for a complete despecialized version. Harmy's will be the best source for you if you make such an edit, though.

No he wouldn't.  Everything Alderaan94 described is in KK650's Semi-Specialized Edition. (Available on the usual paradoxical site)

While out of place to ask this in a forum about removing all changes, and as appreciative as I can be about nostalgia, what really makes me sad about Alderaan94's question is the further realization that these horrible Special Editions have been the prominent available versions long enough now for people to have been able to "grow up" with them...  Harmy's work is important, and it will do a LOT of good for the people that can get it and use it, but it is becoming clear that an official release of the OOT needs to happen critically soon or George's hope that only his revised version will be the one that lasts could still come to pass...

He didn't mention wanting the beaked Sarlacc. I just assumed he didn't.

Well said yoda-sama, I agree completely.

And trashing Yub-Nub was one of the worst sins of the special editions...

Well, so many bad things happened all at once there it is hard to say what is worst... Yes they switched to oddly somber music, but they also assaulted us with CG, gave Jar Jar the last spoken line, and then threw Hayden's face at us.  That is really a lot of terrible to take in the closing minutes...

That about sums up why I felt I felt sick to my stomach after seeing the SE in the theaters and made sure I never had to settle for watching that version again, and ended up here.

Yoda-San is exactly right -- Alderaan94's request is sad.  Let's not forget that this is, of course, Lucas's plan:

The other versions will disappear. Even the 35 million tapes of Star Wars out there won’t last more than 30 or 40 years. A hundred years from now, the only version of the movie that anyone will remember will be the DVD version [of the Special Edition]

Disappear, my ass! Not if we have anything to say about it!

It’s really sad when the “creative minds” behind something we hold dear are also guilty of its destruction.
