I like Karl Urban (or what's his name) as McCoy.

No, no, no, no, no! It's not Karl Urban, it's Urbane Carl.

Get the name right next time. Sheesh!

Nah it's Urb Karlan, famous megacity1 actor.

Here's an interesting article from i09 about Norman Spinrad's unproduced TOS episode, "He Walked Among Us."

(Which is not to be confused with He Walked Among Us, Spinrad's later unrelated novel with the same title.)

“That Darth Vader, man. Sure does love eating Jedi.”

Are the copies of TMP and WOK available for rental on Amazon streaming the Director's Cuts, or are they the theatricals? I'm assuming that TMP is the theatrical, but I'm not sure about the other one. It's been so long since I've seen the director's cut of WOK that I'm starting to forget what was different from the original.

The easiest way to tell which version of The Wrath of Khan you're watching is by listening to the dialogue in the scene early on where "midshipman first class Peter Preston" shows up.

If Scotty says, "My sister's youngest, Admiral. Crazy to get to space," then it's the director's cut.

If that line is absent, then it's the theatrical cut.

If midshipman Preston doesn't show up at all... strange things are afoot.

Dang. David Gerrold sure got a lot of mileage out of his unproduced TNG script "Blood and Fire."

He published the script as a TNG script in one of his anthologies.

He adapted it to a TOS script, and produced it with "Star Trek: Phase Two" ultra fan films.

He adapted it to his "Star Wolf" space opera series and made a novel out of it.

I read an article today in which Pegg says they were told to not even read Orci's script, lol.

Starting from scratch at so late a date.

“Always loved Vader’s wordless self sacrifice. Another shitty, clueless, revision like Greedo and young Anakin’s ghost. What a fucking shame.” -Simon Pegg.

Given that her history with Trek had it's dark times, I hope she had found happiness in the rest of her life.

Rough year to be an old Trek fan.

Well, at least it sounds like she died peacefully. I'm so sick and tired of reading about people dying of lung ailments and brain cancer and the like.

I hope your not a pro wrestling fan. That's a never ending run of depression.

Last week Verne Gagne died, a rare wrestler to live to old age, and I learned that while in care for dementia, he killed another old man.

wow.  after reading this post, I looked it up to see what SilverWook was talking about.  I never Whitney had been assaulted on the set of TOS.   : (

very sad to hear of her passing.  R. I. P.  Ms. Whitney.

IIRC, she didn't talk about it openly until a magazine interview in the 80's. At least that's when I first read about it.

Her cameo in TSFS was a nice touch. I am glad that Rand was in TVH, and especially TUC. They should have found a way to have her hug Kirk, just for old times sake.

Getting neck pinched by Tuvok and Janeway stealing her uniform in the Flashback episode of Voyager is still weird though.

Gene had his way with her and everyone still thinks he's swell. He had a girlfriend at the time too so it's not like he wasn't being taken care of. She was pretty strong to have overcome all that to make a return on the same show where that happened.

If you're implying Gene had anything to do with her being assaulted, you're dead wrong. Whitney said it was a Desilu studio executive.

So she said, but Gene's actions after the fact and her book suggest otherwise. There is no reason for her to have tried to protect a Desilu studio executive, but a big incentive to protect Gene.

In old Hollywood, one could easily doom their career coming out with such accusations. The "casting couch" was well known, but not openly discussed.

If Gene was the guilty party, then the entire cast and crew of TOS has hushed this up, and even taken it to their graves.

In any case, this thread really isn't about behind the scenes dirt and gossip.

You have got to be kidding me! And Dr. Who fans got no scrutiny, as that was a proper British series of course.

And since when did The Lawnmower Man have a following anyway? If your doomsday plans are based on a Tron knockoff movie that bore no resemblance to the Stephen King story it was allegedly based on, you've got issues. ;)
