The version I've heard is an employee kept backups of the files. Where the truth lies is anyone's guess.

Different employes have partial backups of different things, but collecting and cataloging them all would be a large undertaking. Robert Bonchune supposedly has a fairly extensive personal backup. Some stuff would probably have to be remade.

Unfortunately, I don't think that DS9 is going to happen anytime soon. What I really would like to see is an HD version of TMP Director's cut.
