I have been saying for a long time that what's his name from Community would make a great Peter Parker.  In fact the first time I watched an episode of that show I said it out loud.

I don't care about the race of Spiderman as long as they get a good actor, but just because he is black why can't he be Peter Parker? Does marvel really think that black middle class nerds who grew up in nice neighborhoods doesn't exist. It seems like every black character in fiction these days grew up in "Da hood" and is street smart but not book smart, isn't that kind of racist. I mean have we really progressed at all since the 1940s? Blacks are still portrayed as stereotypes who can't handle the world of white people, it's just now they are drug dealers instead of servants, seems like a lateral move at best to me. Oh and since when has Spiderman not been Peter Parker, will the general public even understand that? Isn't that kind of like having Superman not be Clark Kent? I say make him black but keep him as Peter Parker and give him the same black story as the white Peter Parker, don't change the back story just because of the colour of his skin.
