Yeah, but they could have called their funny mystery film anything if it didn't have this gimmick. This feature justifies the strong connection to the board game and I don't see anything in these other movies that justifies the connection to the corresponding games

I'm not even saying the Settlers movie and show will suck, I'm just saying that it's not necessary to copy the world of the board game.
