Notice how the AT-AT isn't making enough headway per step to possibly cover that distance it needs to in those few seconds. Just the fault of that particular shot; they misjudged where it should be in relation to the speeder.

I'm guessing, Mac, that you are referring to the mock-up Ronster made. Because in the shot of the approaching AT-AT in the film, Luke's speeder isn't even visible, which makes it seem like there's even more distance between them.

Any word if this will be addressed, or is it staying as is?

I hate to harp on this subject, but this has bothered me since I was a small child in the 80's.
