Quick question if your TV is so old does it even have an HDMI input?

Again, that's what the adapter's for. =P

 Oh sorry.

Wait, you mean it doesn't even have component out?  That just sucks.

Ouch, sorry to hear about that.

Oh whatever you do don't believe the pitch store sales people give you about $50 HDMI cables being better then the cheap ones. A friend of mine fell for that and what we found was there was no difference between my HDMI cables and the ones he bought.

Oh at least with an adapter you will also be ready for the current video games systems as I think they all only come with HDMI out, not owning one I don't know for sure but I think that is the case.

No one will help us because on paper our family makes enough to support it's self but in reality after the bill collectors finish garnishing our paychecks there is nothing left and we have no money for food and since the fox killed off our chickens what food we do have has to go to my dad because eating properly is a condition of keeping his transplanted heart and he has to keep it so he can work.  The medical bills have left us with nothing and I still can't find a job and we can not move.

None of us have eaten in three days since we ran out of eggs.  We are slowly starving to death and there is nothing that can be done about it because of these medical bills.  We have tried every government and charity program but they all say the same thing, we make too much money to get help.  None of them take into account the medical bills we have because of my dad getting sick and now he needs a kidney transplant because the anti- organ-rejection drugs he is on for his heart have destroyed his kidneys so the bills are going to get worse and we can't get on the bad side of the hospital.

It's looking like the only hope for the rest of the family so for me to kill myself so they can eat my meat that is how bad it has gotten.  Slicing open my wrists seems plesent compared to the pain of slowly starving to death.

I really hope we get nuked or something, death is the only release from the horrors of trying to survive in america with medical bills.

Have you tried a local food bank? They do not care about your income.

I will see if I can find one tomorrow.

It's too late to do anything tonight.

Yes, while I am sorry for my teasing and picking before, I think that sometimes you need to be told to snap out of it.  There are options.  You actually live in a great country.  It's imperfect, but there is no excuse for you not having enough to eat.  There are options for anyone who is willing to put forth the effort, even if the effort is to apply for food stamps or go to a food bank.  My family was just watching YouTube videos the other night about poor starving families in Africa.  Look some of those up, and then count your blessings.  It really could help to have some perspective.

Food stamps is a no go because as i said the only reason we have no food are the crushing medical bills, we tried and were turned down.

I will try the food bank tomorrow.

Sorry I shouldn't have vented all of my frustration at you people.  I willnot bring this up again.  Sorry.

You will surely have to tell us if you succeed at the food bank...otherwise we might worry...or at the very least be somewhat curious...

I don't mind you bringing your frustrations, but I do mind your helplessness. You can succeed. You can find s way.  I know it :)

Thanks, things like this just wear me down.

I am taking my meds but in times of extreme stress like this some times it over comes them.

It doesn't help that I am stuck at home all day due to the lack of a job and all I can do is apply for jobs I never get and think about how much trouble I am in.  That tends to upset me.

Still I will stop complaining, as you said it could be much worse and there has to be something I can do.

On an unrelated note I have been writing so much lately I think I have worn out the space bar on my keyboard.  It only seems to be working about fifty percent of the time I hit it and I keep having to correct it while writing.  I have never had this happen to me before.  In fact I have never heard of it happening, but there you are.

We got some help from the food bank this morning so now we are doing better.

I am so sorry for over reacting like that.

Thanks for putting up with my panic and helping any way.

I know I must sound like a broken record at this point but I will work hard to make sure it doesn't happen again.

Sorry, and thanks again.

Now we who are anxiously awaiting its completion have something to complain about!

I bought my first Blu-ray player today. Unfortunately, the coaxial cable it's made for isn't compatible with my old CRT TV, so now I'll have to go back out into town again tomorrow just to buy an adapter.

Why the manufacturers can't just build these players to be backwards compatible with older TVs in the first place I'll never know.

Just to provide a conclusion to this little tale, yesterday I went back into town to buy an adapter/converter/whatever. As it turns out, though, the store didn't have any in stock; a sales rep said the best chance of getting one would be to look for one on-line. Seeing as the family doesn't buy anything on-line (It's questionable just how secure our computers are, so Ma & Pa do not want to take the chance of purchasing something on-line only to have some bastard in Iran charge something to our credit card.), that possibility was a no-go.

So, in the end, the family decided to buy a new, modern, flatscreen TV compatible with the Blu-ray player for me. The picture quality's a little too pixellated and high-contrasty for my tastes, and some live-action DVD's look REAL grainy on-screen. Overall, though, I can live with it.

How big of a Tv did you get?  Some times that is just what happens on larger screens with certain DvDs?

Every TV and Bluray player I have ever used each has it's own picture settings to fiddle with, if you find them try them out.  You may find a combination that works better then what you are using now.

I don't know the precise measurements of the TV -- and I'm too lazy to drag the box out of it's current nook to check right now-- but it's sizable. I don't know if I'd call it huge, but the screen's just a tiny bit wider than my arm is long.

This is the third Monday in a row we've had a blizzard in Boston. And I was sick of the snow before the first one. So I'm pretty annoyed at this point.

All tv's are on default settings out of the box, intended to be eye catching in the store. You will need to tweak a lot of things, and most important of all, turn the sports mode off so movies will look like movies and not a soap opera.

If you have any THX mastered DVD's lying around, the test patterns they all have will come in handy.

Where were you in '77?

This is what you get for winning another Super Bowl.

I don't care if we're talking about welfare, or public school, or whatever. If you used to do hallucinogens and have sex with prostitutes, you don't get to talk about 'real values' just because you got married and go to church sometimes.
