Early 1990's Trilogy Box Set and VHS Covers

Hi everyone,

I've tried searching this forum for the early 1990's VHS original trilogy covers in high resolution but cannot find any. Either they're not on here or have turned into missing image shack files.

If someone has decent copies (not so torn up) and can post high resolution images of all sides of the VHS covers and the box covers I would be very grateful.

Here are some images to help identify them:

Box Cover

VHS Front Cover

VHS Back Covers

I believe the 1990's versions have different back covers and it's the style shown above that I'm chasing, although forum members looking for similar releases will likely appreciate anyone uploading scans of different back covers if you have them.

This site, run by Video Collector, is your best resource, though I don't believe he has any high resolution scans. You might ask him though.

Also, ChainsawASH made some covers, a good few years back that I think are closest to what you are talking about. I had a similar set, but it was based off of the widescreen set with the fat box.

I have thought about buying a box set just to scan, but either people want way too much money for them, or the sets are in bad shape.

I don't believe anybody on here has made an actual high resolution set utilizing that box set. Most have had to recreate it, which is hard, because the images used on the backs where production stills that are hard to find in decent quality for the average hobbyist.

"The other versions will disappear. Even the 35 million tapes of Star Wars out there won’t last more than 30 or 40 years. A hundred years from now, the only version of the movie that anyone will remember will be the DVD version [of the Special Edition], and you’ll be able to project it on a 20’ by 40’ screen with perfect quality. I think it’s the director’s prerogative, not the studio’s to go back and reinvent a movie." - George Lucas

Wow thanks for your response. That site is the best I've seen so far.

I also considered buying it from ebay but the postage is pretty steep for me. If I do buy them and create high resolution scans I'll be sure to post them here.

I share your appreciation of that box set. It reminds me of a simpler time when poster art was used for covers. There was something special about those VHSs.

I actually just happen to have unused VHS covers used for this set but I do NOT have the box.  I scanned them a while back and may be able to post them for you.

Mine are the Special Letterbox Collector's Edition covers, just so you know.
