Harmy's STAR WARS Despecialized Edition HD - V2.7 - MKV (Released) — Page 524

Since the GOUT is just a DVD version of the '93 Laserdiscs, does anyone know where the coloring from the laserdiscs came from? A few pages earlier in this thread someone said the coloring of the DE is the same as the theatrical version, and I noticed the GOUT has different coloring. So was there a difference in the coloring between the theatrical, VHS, and laserdisc versions?

Faded prints and typical home video overbrightening account for pretty much all of the differences.  There was also likely a missing filter on home video releases regarding the R2 canyon scene.

Basically the color of crap film stock goes all to hell over ten years, let alone twenty years.  It's only because of superior-quality Technicolor prints that we actually know how things looked back then (more or less).  We do not have references of that quality for Empire...

Analog, I could see leaving in the ~50 chapters intact for manually skipping around in the movie, but I don't think they'd ALL have to be represented in a chapters menu.  It would probably be acceptable to have a subset of chapters in the menu, enough to get you close to where you want to be.  Like a highlight reel of what is in the film, enough to get you to the Alderaan scene or the beginning of the trench scene, etc., but not so much that you can jump to a particular event within that, if you will.

I just checked the forum for the first time in a few days, and I see I missed the big news.  Congratulations on your new job Harmy!

Does anyone know if there were any dubs that were screwed up on the 2.5 release for any reason (I think I recall sync issues with some of the earlier 2.x releases)?  I'm trying to provide updated tracks for the possibility of the BD, and I know there's updated versions for the German and Castilian tracks, but honestly forget if there were others.  Plus added Russian, Ukrainian, and Thai.

If you mean the nasty-ass dub, then yes.  But we also have a decent Russian voiceover.

Right, this guy sent it to me a while ago and it was a part of a video that looked like film being projected in an archive somewhere filmed from the screen with a video camera.

Yeah, we've got that one.  If you want audio waver so bad the London Symphony Orchestra sounds like a mariachi band, we got you covered ;)

Update:

Asked a designer buddy of mine for some tweaks, and apart from the "selected button" and "activated button" highlights (which aren't on there because I haven't gotten to them yet) I'd say this is a pretty solid final design. What do you guys think?

The man is clearly using Google Translate. Let's not make fun of him for not knowing English. I believe he's trying to say that the dubbing, no matter how shody the quality, holds a big sentimental value.

Design looks good, Nanner. Go for it, once the other elements are ready from Harmy's end (intro clip, plus one other thing)
