The same disc? Linky?
Where were you in '77?

I might be interested in the disc, but not if they're going to sell it outside a "safe" environment like Ebay.

Was there ever a release of the disc's content as was discussed in the previous pages?

Well, there was a release on Youtube of the whole 30 minutes. That's all there ever was, and all of it was put up. It consists entirely of brief takes, so everything was in short teases anyway. I think it's still up.
Yes, here it is: http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=Kz56q4t6fek

You are bidding on a one of a kind piece of Star Wars history !
This long lost Return of the Jedi EditDroid Laser Disc with over 30 minutes of unedited raw footage was discovered in October 2013 and made headlines around the world with outlets such as CNN, NBC, CBS, ABC, FOX, BBC and hundreds more!
We were even interviewed by TV and radio as the story went viral and our Facebook page has gained over 42,000 fans as we shared information about this remarkable discovery.
Unfortunately our circumstances have changed so the Star Wars memorabilia collection that has been so lovingly amassed over the years has to be put up for sale, starting with this unique and valuable collectors item that is the jewel in the crown of my collection. To say that I am devastated is an understatement, I only hope a collector out there can understand how important this item is to Star Wars history.
For those that do not know about the EditDroid system or about the story of this we suggest you checkout www.editdroid.com - This is not the movie that is for sale it is a very rare disc that was used with the EditDroid system back in 1983 / 1984.
Good luck and thank you to all our supporters !
$850 with only 4 bids so far .................................
Oh, so they changed their mind on Ebay. Shall we try to pool our resources on this? I'm a little strapped after that holy grail of mine turned up, but I can probably cough up a hundred.
And if someone here is one of the bidders, speak up so we don't all end up working against each other. ;)

$850 and there are still 9 days left. This is going to cost a lot.

Rare discs usually do.

It can be purchased, capped and re-sold. It's just that initial purchase...
I thought Adywan or his associates had bought this, since he was planning on using some footage for his Revisited version of ROTJ.
You know of the rebellion against the Empire?

^^^^^^^
This will be the selling point from this point forward making it's final price a bit inflated unfortunately even considering it's already been capped at least once by folks we know.
You'd think the rare footage would be the selling point. 15 minutes of fame non transferable to new owner. ;)
Hopefully, Adywan will weigh in on whether this is worth securing at this point.

I figured if it wasn't they wouldn't have included that blurb in the ad ya know. It's always the same with this stuff but it's only worth such a price if there is someone willing to pay it.
And apparently at least one person is in for $850.
There likely would be at least three camps competing for this. The fanedit community, collector's of rare LD's, and people who collect anything remotely connected to Star Wars.
The last group can get a little nutty, if you recall someone likely blew their kids' college fund on a rare Droids figure last year. ;)

We knew nothing about this. First thing we knew was when it had already been put up for sale.
I've been trying to get hold of the disc since it was purchased. All i have are the original vob files from the settop DVD recorder recordings that were used for the youtube video. I had arrangements set in place with poita to get the disc shipped to him for him to do a proper capture and i was just awaiting on the guy who has the disc to set things up his end. next thing i was getting contacted by people asking why we are selling it. We weren't even contacted before the disc was offered for sale.I'm trying to get him to get this properly captured, as was promised, before the sale goes ahead. I have a feeling though that this isn't going to happen within the 9 days.
As soon as i can find out any more information i'll let you all know.
the only good thing that has come out of this is that we at least got to see the footage and it didn't end up in the hands of a collector who would never have shared anything. but that isn't really much of a consolation.
Thanks for clearing that up, Ady.
Posting about this over at AMPS to spread the word.
And damn! Over $1000 already. There's always a mystery zero feedback guy to jack up the price. :/

Very.
Hey honey! Guess what I bought on Ebay? ;)
Where were you in '77?
You could offer to rent it from the seller and then post it to whoever he sells it to directly, if he's willing to close the auction and wait a couple of weeks. That would net him the extra rental cash with no loss. Besides doing that, you may as well let the disc go - I haven't viewed the footage myself, but it's not like it contains long-lost deleted scenes or anything.
[ Scanning stuff since 2015 ]
Oh, it does. Mostly one brief scene, but very interesting lines and footage not found anywhere else.
Guess I'm glad I posted about it. I'm sorry to hear that it may end up in oblivion again.
Ady, I hope you are able to get it all sorted before it gets lost.
:)
Is there anything on the disc that hasn't already been posted to youtube?
