Did Dr Crow really copy and paste the entirety of JMS' reboot pitch? I'm really glad I have him on Ignore.

If you want to hear me talk about what I think on the JMS reboot, I talked about it for a good 45 minutes here.

Yeah sorry about that.  I meant just to copy the part that talked about JMS's plot ideas but for some reason the whole thing got copied, I have removed it now.

One of these days I might make a video with the bunny building pic and the other overly long pics and use a cover of "The Bunny Song" from Veggietales with modified lyrics as the audio...

I know, it's probably one of my sillier/dumber ideas :P

...on a related note, can TV's Frink sing?

Nobody sang The Bunny Song in years…

While surfin' the 'Net, I came upon Wikipedia's article on hemocyanin. It looks like Vulcan/Romulan blood should be blue, not green.

Author

Wow, cool.

I was not aware the colour of vulcan blood had been explained anywhere.  No really, I don't know why this surprises me given that I have been a Trek fan since I was two but I have never heard of this before.  Cool.

I knew his blood was green I just was not aware it had ever been explained why it was green.

Ah, that makes more sense. I thought it was explained somewhere that his blood was copper based instead of iron based like ours. Maybe that was in a book I read.

May have been I never read a lot of the books because getting into them seemed like such a chore, i am sure there are some ones that are very well written but I would have had to buy them and there were just so many and I couldn't ever work out where to start, Plus when i was a kid I would rather spend my money on VHS tapes of the shows and movies.

Looks like they'll make their goal soon. Can't wait, I'm anticipating their next episode more than the new movie!

I went to the National Air & Space Museum's Udvar-Hazy Center's Open House today (the second occurrence of an annual event), and got to see the original 11ft studio model of the Enterprise sitting right in front of me in the Conservation lab, not even in a glass case. Talked a little bit with the head conservator who's working on it, and then heard a talk from the curator who pushed for it to make it into the renovated main entrance gallery in DC in the next few years.

Click here to see my photos & notes.

Other notes:

  • Yes it looks green
  • No that's not because of decay or repaints
  • The paint on the top of the saucer is definitely the original paint
  • The Enterprise is green
  • They still don't know if they're going to illuminate it. The original lights are gone, currently has 90s lights, but do they really want to rip out the innards again? Very tough decision.

That is cool.

The TARDIS console from the 1960s and 1970s was also sort of green when it looked white on screen, For some reason back then when filmed under studio lights objects painted a certain shade of green showed up as a brighter white on Tv screens then those that were just painted white.  I have no idea why.

Author
Time

Yeah you are most likely right.  Still that just seems confusing and strange.  I guess something changed at some point since by the 1980s the console was painted white and not green.  I have no idea what colour Star Trek models were painted at that point.

Still it is an interesting piece of TV triva.

Those are some sweet fume extraction arms in the background.

I hope they will be able to undo the weathered paint job and heavily scribed hull lines of the last restoration. That was a botch job.

Wish I could find the snapshots I took of the old girl back in the 70's. The IDIC page had some of similar vintage, but it's sadly long gone.

Thanks for the model pics, timdiggerm

Did you get to touch it?! Did you caress her smooth lines? Am I giving too much away on my relationship with this ship?

I know its probably blasphemy but i always preferred the model used in the motion picture the so called Refit.  The one they reused as the Enterprise A.

The one they replaced with the cgi JJprise.

The model they sold to a collector, i guess that is better than it going in the trash which is probably where it would have ended up knowing Paramount.
