Looking forward to 2.0!

Can I make a request for the MKV version? In that you crop out the black bars when encoding it? I don't always play everything back on a 16:9 screen, so it would be nice to scale it horizontally rather than vertically like Star Wars 2.1/Empire 2.0

Both VLC and MPC can crop out the black bars during playback.

Star Trek: The Motion Picture DE - The Anti-DNR Fanedit
Duel (1971) - The Hybrid Cut
The Phantom of the Opera - 1925 Version Reconstruction - Rare Scores Collection - Roy Budd Score

Like CatBus said - if you crop out the black bars, it's no longer Blu-Ray compatible, like the MKV version of ANH ReSpecialized. I really don't think Harmy is going to release a non-BR-compliant MKV (and I hope he doesn't).

We could provide all sorts of reasons why not, and this question is asked more often than you would believe. If you don't understand the limitations of Pan&Scan, google it. If you are happy with the scaled anamorphic output you want, so be it - I'm not. Not sure which* I hate more, P&S, Jar-Jar or 30+ years of tweaking and cgi updates. Glad to hear it's going to remain in the fully non-cropped version.

And thank you for your work Harmy and everyone else, for all the efforts. Can't wait for the .mkv release, as plex doesn't play nicely with .iso or avchd formats anymore, at least with my equipment. I can burn and play them, but trying not to since .mkv is drag and drop with auto pop for me.

* I've decided. It's Jar-Jar and P&S neck and neck at the end, with Jar-Jar taking it. Nothing sucks more than Jar-Jar.

He's not talking about Pan and Scan, he's talking about cropping off the black bars on the top and bottom and making the video file a 2.35 aspect ratio video (the aspect ratio of the film) and not a 16x9 aspect ratio which is what Harmy's projects are in. He's not cropping out anything from the actual movie. Look:

Harmy:

And with the other guy was requesting:

What’s the internal temperature of a TaunTaun? Luke warm.

Wow, looks so much better than 1.0! Was that all from the scan, or was some sourced from the Blu-ray?

I think I'm anticipating this release more than The Force Awakens.

Wow, the upgrade from 1.0 is going to be night and day! I quiver with anticipation!

BTW, I apologize if you've already answered this, but what are you using as a source for color regrading this time around?

As with ESB, I don't have one definitive reference but it will be mostly TN1's scans for the scenes I have and Puggo's ROTP for the rest, while still checking the color-boosted GOUT since I think the Jedi PAL GOUT is much better than the other two films in terms of color as well.

In this clip it's just a quick and dirty one-setting-for-the-whole-sequence kind of deal - it will need some fine tuning.

Well I noticed this clip is 1080p. Does it mean you plan to do the whole film in 1080p or are you sticking with 720p ? :-)

Really excited about this. Harmy what are the colours going to be like on Endor - are they going to be the same as previous versions or tweaked even more?

It seems from the references I've seen, that the Endor colors were actually a bit colder than they are in v1.0, so I will adjust them accordingly.

Ok cool. Really looking forward to seeing how this turns out for ROTJ - really keen to also see how the Luke v vader duel looks towards the end too. :)

Harmy, you're such a Sarlacc tease.

This is looking good—I'm excited at the idea of finally having the entire Despecialized trilogy V2+ to watch.

What is the filesize of the 720p release? I'm having a hard time finding a non-recoded version (especially since I don't have a MySpleen invite yet).

Thanks.

The 1.0 version (latest) is much smaller than the latest SW and ESB releases. Less than 8 gb, so it's possible that you found the original.

However unlikely, it's also possible that you found . . .

Thanks.

I actually grabbed Harmy's Despecialized Trilogy before getting into myslpleen.  To do this, links to the download can be found at tehparadox.  Register for a free account, then search.  There are links for the Despecialized Trilogy as well as the Episode IV Respecialized.

It would make things easier most likely, if you were to use a download client like jdownloader to help manage the links.

Hope that helps!

Not sure if this has been mentioned before but Vader's eyebrows need some fine tuning as they are obviously from a different source. Other than that, amazing work, can't wait for the v2.
