It would be fun if some of the OT.com and Facebook groupies got a chance to be blown up Rebel pilots.

Like balloons you mean?  I'd love to see a balloon shaped like me in SW:R.

In other news, a call for help has been placed:

http://swrevisited.wordpress.com/2015/01/14/the-plan-for-the-future/

As there's been a new update from adywan on his Revisited facebook page concerning all this now, I thought I'd take a moment to relay it here too -

"Well we have a few new members of the Revisited Crew.  Some very talented people have come onboard.  I will introduce them all at a later date though.  I'm always looking for people with Cg skills, Digital matte skills etc, so there is still plenty of time to come on board.

I can tick a couple of the 1/48 kits off my list.  Thanks to Chris, i will soon have a fine molds 1/48 x-wing.  And i have a chance on getting a 1/48 scratch build Y-Wing resin kit which is gorgeous and really detailed.  I just need to scrape together £200 by the end of the month, so keep your fingers crossed..  I'm still no closer, however, on a b-wing 1/48 kit and an a-wing 1/48 kit. so if anyone knows anyone who is still selling any resin kits at this scale then please do let me know.

EDIT: I HAVE DECIDED TO GO DOWN THE SCRATCH BUILD ROUTE FOR THE A & B-WINGS SO I NO LONGER NEED TO FIND THOSE KITS.

I'm back to work finishing off the Han in Carbonite sculpt tomorrow and will hopefully get it cast in a week or so, so i can get those scenes filmed and out of the way.

I'll be sticking some stuff on ebay beginning of next month so i can clear a lot of this out to make way for the next batch of stuff and help raise funds for materials to carry on the saga.  I'm really running out of room.  There will be individual dagobah Trees, Han's ESB Blaster, Possibly the large AT-AT model amongst other things if I can get that filmed and out of the way in time."

A trip out to Tunisia to film so new material looks sort of doable for the time being.

Hopefully some act of the Force will not erase these pieces of set too soon.

When Adywan talks about the "Hasbro Millennium falcon playset," what, exactly, is this?  I googled it and all I could see is the newer, bigger, version for the 3" figures...  Terribly cool, but surely this can't be what he's talking about.  Is there a link someone could provide?  Just curious to see what he's referencing, thanks.

Sounds like you found it. It actually doesn't fit the 3" figures. It doesn't do anything, its just a giant almost-perfectly scale plastic model. With some bits and bobs people have been making it 100% accurate.

Ady says it's a couple inches shy of being 1/48 scale, but he can account for that without an issue. This means he can use the 1/48 scale models he's building and put them right next to it and they'll be perfect.

Wow, OK...  I didn't think the proportions would be accurate enough or the surface detail, er, detailed enough to use on screen.  Is it really that good?  I had the old one, back in the day, even re-painted it, but how much work would it take to jazz this one up?  Are there after-market kits?  Photo-etch, that sort of thing?

From what I can tell, with a different radar, some paint, and some more detail pieces, it's pretty amazingly close. Definitely cheaper than a scratch build or any of the out-of-print model sets.

They do make after-market kits for pieces, but that's why we have access to a 3D printer! ;-)

I've seen one of these Falcons up close and the detail is ridiculously accurate for a 'toy' - far more so than any actual kit. Something tells me Hasbro wanted to appeal to the model making community. It's almost as if they had to leave some of the panels blank for stickers just to make it a toy rather than a replica.

Well, I'll be hornswoggled.  I would give my left nut to have the time, talent, and $$$  to do this sort of thing...  Not to mention a wife who'd tolerate it!

Yeah, that's not the falcon play-set I had growing up. That falcon looks pretty damn good in it's stock form. I'm debating on buying one to display. Someone as artistically adept as Ady could make it look more battle worn and screen accurate no problem.

Just shoot it several times with a blaster, leave it in the weather, and it will be perfect.

"The other versions will disappear. Even the 35 million tapes of Star Wars out there won’t last more than 30 or 40 years. A hundred years from now, the only version of the movie that anyone will remember will be the DVD version [of the Special Edition], and you’ll be able to project it on a 20’ by 40’ screen with perfect quality. I think it’s the director’s prerogative, not the studio’s to go back and reinvent a movie." - George Lucas

Filming an AT-AT?

Is the Echo Base hanger done then?

It seems quite a bit has happened recently behind the scenes.

Is the shield generator explosion done now?

I am not asking to see any of this but good progress is well....a good thing.

Do what?

No.

Yep.

I believe so.

Thanks.

Morning.

Loved the prequel colour regrade test on Facebook Adywan. Good luck with the shooting of the remaining elements to complete this bad boy!

For everyone without the book of face, here is what i posted there earlier:

While i have been waiting for stuff to dry ( paints, resin etc) i decided to start dabbling with the prequels. So i started with Episode 2 as this one looks the worse out of those films. The whole "orange" look to the film gives it a quite flat quality and really doesn't help with the CG in the film. So i decided to start a quick and dirt colour grading pass. Geonosis is the worse offender. yes, the planet does have a red sky ( at least in the official version) but i want to give this film a more natural colour pallet. Now, as i said, this is a very quick and dirt colour grade only done as a test to see what can be achieved and how the film could look with some added grain, so it matched the OT instead of looking like and older digitally shot movie.

Now, if you want to see a proper comparison just click on the sample here:

Some more tests:

Plus some footage:

First is the comparison video: (approx 90mb)

And the second is the regraded version in higher bitrate so you can see the added film grain: (approx 270mb)

Adywan,

Hello there. I can only speak for what I have seen as an outsider, but even as an outsider it is clear that you have 'given' of yourself greatly to try and complete SW and ESB revisited. The effort, attention to detail and commitment to perfection you have shown is incredible.

Star Wars and Empire Strikes Back are true classics of cinema (I believe ESB was voted best movie of all time in an Empire Magazine poll a few years ago) and no one would argue that these films were not deserving of your talents.

But when I see the screenshots of Attack Of The Clones... the old saying "you can't polish a turd' is all that comes to mind. Do you have doubts?

My worry is that even if you create the greatest fan edit and revisited edition possible (and if any one can do that then you can) then the resulting film will still be weak. Some fx and visuals can be tweaked but too many of the key actors are sleep walking through the movies.

You obviously are up for the challenge, but will you be able to bear the downgrade of working on this far weaker material after having spent so many years with the comparative banquet that is Star Wars and Empire Strikes Back?

I do wish you luck and I will continue to follow your progress. I hope you can farm out more of the heavy lifting on the Prequel Trilogy so that you do not become over encumbered by the responsibility and workload, and I also think that what you have learned on ESB: Revisited will stand you in good stead. I am very excited for Return Of The Jedi: Revisited, and cannot wait to see what you can accomplish with that. It is a great time to be a Star Wars fan!

it gives me chills to hear your are dabbling with the prequels. is there a tutorial or somthing on how to go about color correcting. i would love to give it a shot if and when i do an edit

So no radical reworking for Kamino then?

I was hoping for something a little less generic than a slightly colour shifted Tatooine or Tatooine (just to make the plot more interesting universe shrinkage be damned).

Maybe another editor will give it a go.

This is just the first colour pass of the whole film. Even if Ady was going to do something really radical with the colouring/mood of any of these locations (which I'd definitely be in favour of) he still needs to do this initial correction so that he has a properly coloured base to work from. Far easier to get your bearings colour-wise when the Oompa Loompa fleshtones are gone.

Ady, that CC of AOTC looks amazing.

Will this be released like your CC of TPM at some point, or this all just for Revisited stuff?

Either way, it just shows how effective a decent CC can transform the look and atmosphere of a scene tremendously.

Edit: Just noticed that some of the blasters and lightsabers seem different from the original, but its been years since I last watched AOTC so is this something new as well?
