Yeah me either,as a Doctor Who/Blake's 7 SFX have never really been important to me,it's the stories.  Still I know some people can't get past the early CGI.  In my case after a while I got used to it and it just became the way things looked in the B5 universe.

Watching B5 for the first time is a great ride, have fun:)

Oh and I just watched the second episode of Chuck again and did anyone else notice that while taking the test he said the flight from Lost was shot down?  Now that is a cool Easter Egg.

I just started season two and Chuck just keeps getting better and better. The pilots are really good spy plots and not just jokes but they are funny as well.  I like the way Chuck is turning into more of a spy little by little and his character isn't staying static.

Oh and the guest stars are getting better I mean in one episode alone we have Sidney's partner from Alias,Buster Bluth, and JOHN "GET THE HELL OUT OF MY GALAXY" SHERIDAN!!!!

THIS IS THE COOLEST THING EVER!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

DrCrowT just to let you know there is a Chuck thread I created a while back. I love that you're enjoying the show and welcome to the Chuck fandom! I just wanted to offer an alternative thread to post in so that you can post about it whether or not it's your last seen show. The last page of the Chuck thread has no spoilers so that's where I linked to(well hopefully unless your settings are like 1 post per page or something...). Enjoy this fantastic show!!

My last seen show was Sliders an episode in season 5. This show, if it wasn't so episodic I'd like it a lot less. Granted there is a storyline that affects the later episodes but a lot of the episodes are idea episodic stories. In that way the characters become secondary. I only really dislike a handful of episodes because of this. I've also recently finished watching this series too. The ending, well, let's not talk about that. I'll just say too much cliffhangerendingness and leave it at that...

Star Wars Rebels (2014-)

This show gets better and better every week! Have to set sometime aside soon to go over the last few episodes in the proper thread.

Maybe it's the animation style, or that I see commercials during the My Little Pony episodes my girls watch, but it looks like it's for kids.

Only in the way that Star Wars (1977) was for kids.

Well, it's been over two weeks since I began watching Babylon 5, and I managed to get through all five seasons of the entire series.

I'm not going to write an essay on every tiny little thing I liked/disliked about the series -- I don't think I have the words to convey all my feelings properly -- but I am going to list the more important ones.

Some spoilers are coming. I've bracketed them off with big !!!SPOILER!!! tags.

  • I liked Michael O'Hare's portrayal of Jeffrey Sinclair, thought the character had a lot of potential, and was disappointed that he had to leave the show due to his schizophrenia. Though I came to like Bruce Boxleitner and his performance as John Sheridan just as much (if not more), a part of me still wishes O'Hare could have remained on the show.
  • I wasn't too taken with Boxleitner when he replaced O'Hare at first; I basically saw his character as a placeholder for Sinclair with no real identity of his own. That began to change with the episode "In the Shadow of Z'ha'dum". From there on out I began to appreciate the actor and character more-and-more; once into Season 3, I officially liked them both.
  • As my avatar would suggest, I have become a fan of Mira Furlan and her character Delenn is my favourite character on the show. The only aspect I dislike about her was the makeup they used on her after Delenn !!!SPOILER!!!became a human-Minbari hybrid!!!SPOILER!!!. Prior to that event, the makeup artists used bold shades of lipstick that really brought out Furlan's lips; afterward, however, they used more muted shades that didn't really do her justice. I also wasn't taken with the way her hair was ultimately styled; at first they used an interesting "side-braid" style, but by Season 4 they just went with a single, flat, free-flowing style that further de-emphasized Furlan's beauty.
  • I ended up loving the !!!SPOILER!!!romance between Sheridan and Delenn!!!SPOILER!!! in spite of my initial misgivings with Sheridan's character and the fact that I had looked forward to Delenn exploring a romantic relationship with Sinclair before learning of how the latter character's arc was resolved after Season 1.
  • I have absolutely nothing bad to say about how religion was handled on this show. There was no smug TNG-styled secular humanism portraying faith as stupid and archaic here; none of the belief systems featured on the show were presented as unambiguously true and right, but they were treated with respect and dignity.
  • G'Kar and Londo are both awesome characters and they never fail to bring a spark to otherwise dismal episodes.
  • Walter Koenig as Alfred Bester was awesome. As much as I like him as Chekov on Star Trek, I think this role was far better.
  • I was never taken with Talia Winters and was glad when she was replaced with Lyta Alexander. Winters came off as too much of an ice queen, while Lyta was the (not so) wholesome girl next door. Of course, I am biased in favour of redheads, so ...
  • The way time travel mechanics work in the B5 Universe gives me a headache. While the show for the most part heavily implies that history is set and cannot be altered, there are points in the series where both the characters and the audience are shown possible futures that end up never coming to pass. I really think JMS should have made it clear whether the timeline is mutable/immutable instead of trying to mix the two mutually exclusive concepts.
  • Due to the limited budget, most of the action took place in and around the Babylon 5 station, with most forays to other worlds taking place briefly in shut-in rooms or as CG backdrops. As a result, the show felt a little too claustrophobic at times, especially in the earlier seasons.
  • I hated Garibaldi's hair and was immensely pleased when he finally shaved it off.
  • The pak'ma'ra

is my favourite B5 alien race.

  • I thought N'Grath

was an awesome character and was very disappointed that he was written out of the show after the first season.

  • I wasn't satified with how the Shadow War was resolved. There was just too much buildup with too little payoff. Fortunately, the following conclusion of the Earthforce Civil War helped to compensate.
  • Tracy Scoggins' performance on Lois & Clark: The New Adventures of Superman didn't leave me with a high opinion of her skills as an actress. Her performance here as Lochley, while not spectacular, managed to raise her status in my eyes.
  • Due to the limited budget, we never really get to see anyone fighting or dying in the Minbari Civil War. In light of this, perhaps it would have been better if the event had never been written into the show (even if it did feature one of Delenn's best scenes on the show).
  • Though I didn't like most of Season 5 -- the entire storyline revolving around Byron and his telepaths was boring and padded to me -- I felt it picked up after they were gone and came to a satisfying -- if incredibly heartbreaking -- conclusion.

Overall, while I found Babylon 5 uneven at times -- sometimes uncomfortably uneven -- it still proved to be satifying in the end. While I can't see myself sitting down to watch the series all the way through ever again, I'd definately like to own the entire series on DVD so that I can revisit the characters and specific favourite episodes/moments again.

I never knew the reason O'Hare left the show, perhaps it wasn't openly discussed at the time? At least his character arc got wrapped up later.

There was a lot of behind the scenes drama during the fourth season, mainly with the outfit actually syndicating the show. That put pressure on to wrap things up. The final episode was actually filmed in season 4, but held back when the last minute reprieve came, and the show moved to TNT on cable. (One reason why season 5 feels like padding.) TNT would later meddle too much on the sequel series Crusade.

I'm still disappointed Garibaldi never got revenge on Bester. They should have at least done that in one of the tv movies.

If you want to have a surreal experience, you have to see the low budget sci fi film, Arena. It plays like a B5/DS9 crossover episode, with actors from both shows. Probably helps I first saw it about three in the morning on TNT, when both series were still airing. ;)

After months of watching it on-and-off, I've finished my rewatch of Spider-Man: The Animated Series (AKA the Spider-Man cartoon from the '90s).

While I like the first two seasons, I can't stand the rest. I grew weary of the incredibly stupid censorship and the overuse of the Kingpin, and the overall lousy execution of practically everything else -- Spidey's supporting cast, his other villains, the other superheroes, the storylines -- just served to earn my disdain. Frankly, I think the talents of the entire cast -- regulars and guests alike -- were wasted on the tripe they had to work with.

Oh, well, at least the final two episodes were good, allowing the show to finish on a relatively high note.

Kingpin was amazing

He was at first, but too much just became too much. Basically every other villain on the show ended up becoming a flunky of his, and that was just retarded.

too bad they cancelled it.

It was a mercy killing.

I've recently begun to re-watch the American version of Hi-5 -- a musical kids' TV show -- on YouTube.

As it's a show that came out in 2003 -- when I was, what, 16? 17? -- and never actually saw 'til late 2007, it's not a show I associate with my childhood. Nevertheless, I enjoyed watching it because I had the hots for Jennifer Peterson-Hind and because I found the songs catchy.

Now, though, I'm primarily enjoying it for how utterly corny and batshit insane it is.

I just finished watching the 2003 Clone Wars series. Everything except the story sucked, and the story wasn't particularly noteworthy, so it gets a big "meh" overall. Maybe it's just the visual medium I dislike. But then again, there are plenty of animated shows that are consistent from shot to shot (the Clone Wars goes from showing a huge army to showing nothing in the same spot from shot to shot), that have good voice acting, etc. Also, it always bugs me when Jedi can fly (since when can Jedi fly!?) and destroy hundreds of droids with ease in one shot, and in the next they're fighting for their life with a single droid, which they effortlessly destroy when they decide to use force powers instead of their lightsabre. Now, I think the story is better than that of the prequels, but I'm not sure why people prefer this one to the more recent series.

I got the the end of Chuck.

Let's just say it ruined an otherwise perfect series for me and is not in keeping with the tone of the rest of the series and renders most of the major plot arcs of the series pointless.  I have no idea what the producers and writers were thinking.

Too bad this series would be perfect without these final two episodes:(

0/10.

The Newsroom (2012-2014)

Brilliant show. I loved the whole basing episodes around real events angle. The dynamics between the different characters was terrific, the show was filled with great writing. I'm so sad to see it end and I don't know why Sorkin decided to call it quits so soon.

I watched the first season of Poltergeist: The Legacy over the past week. Basically, my feelings on it are this: it's a decent show -- a little overbearing in the first ten episodes or so, but it eventually finds some balance and subtlety. On the down side, most of the characters are rather dull and lifeless; only Derek de Lint and Helen Shaver's characters are all that interesting.

I've now begun to rewatch the animated Beetlejuice series. It was one of the shows I grew up watching as a kid, I've always liked it far more than the movie (which I don't like, to be quite honest), and so far, it seems to hold up to my memories of it.

I just finished up "An idiot Abroad". Funny series, but I did feel they bullied the guy a bit much.

Are we 100% sure that guy is not Clint Howard?!

Oh and Ricky Gervais being rude to and bullying anyone who isn't him and calling anyone who isn't an upper class British person like him an idiot, colour me surprised.

Seriously I do not get why this guy is so popular, his humor is nothing more then running up to people and being rude to them and then following it with an awkward pause.  The American version of the office may have gone on for way too long and become a soap opera but at least I could sit through an episode and I didn't get the feeling that the makers hated everyone one the planet and would like nothing better then to watch me and everyone get torn limb from limb by rabid rats.  Seriously I do not understand how a guy who seems to hate everyone can be the most popular person on the planet at the moment, every time i see his smug hate filled face I just want to punch it.

Ricky and Karl are friends in real life, but he calls him an idiot for the sake of comedy.

Has it seriously never happened to you to call one of your friends a dumb fuck when he didn't understand something?

And Karl really is a simple-minded man.

And Ricky isn't upper class, if you're talking about his roots. His father was a labourer and a hod carrier. Gervais grew up in a working-class family and lived in an estate. (wikipedia).

You don't seem to understand the difference between a comedic persona and a real life individual. I guess maybe this particular brand of humour is just not for you.

Author
Time

Well here is the thing when that brand of humor works in other thing the person being rude is the butt of the jokes and the joke is that the person thinks so highly of himself when really he is just a jerk and everyone knows it. Look at shows like Fawlty Towers or Blackadder for how I like seeing this sort of thing done, he seems to just insult people and the joke doesn't go any farther then that and je seems to really think that highly of himself in real life.

As for what I have been watching, well thanks to METV I have been seeing episodes of The Carol Burnett Show. I had only seen bits and pieces of it before and I have to say it is brilliant. The way she is able to think on her feet when talking to the studio audience is something I really admire and reminds me of Groucho Marx.  I think my favorite episode so far is the one with the Gone with the Wind skit but that just may be because I am the only person on the planet who didn't like that movie. Any way this show is brilliant and still stands up, I love it.
