Adywan did a great job with that but I can't use it for my own releases because however good it is, its never been part of the official releases.

Just for the record, Adywan's version of the ESB Emperor scene isn't available on its own somewhere, is it?

My stance on revising fan edits.

I'll take a look tomorrow when I can get on my PC. My ipad is a pita when trying to view clips! :-)

It's basically cut so that the dialogue resembles the OOT dialogue. I think the only difference in the end is that he says "young skywalker" (pieced together from the SE audio) rather than "luke skywalker".

You can compare them here: http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=tRsDLIPVsic

I think the uploader originally had the sources all mixed up, but they might be fixed now. Either way, I believe kk doesn't like the look of the new Emperor even with that audio 'hack'.

No. At least, not outside the highly compressed world of YouTube.

I really don't like the look of the new Emperor, audio hack or not, he looks inflated and not at all like he looked in ROTJ.  What's the point of reinserting the new Emperor into ESB to maintain continuety with ROTJ when he doesn't look anything like he does in ROTJ, completely defeats the purpose of the exercise. The way his face is completely lit is also far worse than the original that has the Emperor's face partially hidden in shadows, adding to his mystery and menace.

Of course what really bothers me is the changed dialogue, where the original dialogue was succinct and flows great, the new dialogue is painfully forced and introduces unneccessary questions about whether Vader already knew that Luke was his son and whether Vader is playing the Emperor and already planning to betray him at that point, not to mention ruining the reveal of Vader being Luke's father later on for anybody the knows that Anakin is Darth Vader, which I imagine must be pretty much the majority of people on this planet, regardless of whether they've actually seen the films or not.

Also, for those few not aware of who Anakin is and have started with the OT first rather than the PT, won't they be wondering who the hell Anakin Skywalker is when he's mentioned here?

Okay guys, almost done with the lightsabers in Star Wars, only one shot left that I still have lingering doubts about. Please check out these two very short clips and let me know which you prefer the lightsaber saturation for, clip 1 or clip 2:

Clip 1:

Clip 2:

To be quite honest, I am having a hard time finding differences between the two...  Perhaps my eye isn't quite as discerning as others, but I would be perfectly happy with either one.

I prefer Clip 1.

No that's great nafroe, thanks! That you're happy with both helps me a great deal as well, it tells me that I haven't gone too far. :)

Yep!  I think I'm leaning towards clip 1 as well.

Excellent, that's the one I prefer as well, thanks for the feedback nightstalkerpoet! :)

I should have the updated Star Wars Semi-Specialised Edition V2.2 up on myspleen by tomorrow.

I would change it to maybe 2.25 or 2.2b ... Just in case the original 2.2 is still in circulation

Preferred Saga:
1/2: Hal9000
3: L8wrtr
4/5: Adywan
6-9: Hal9000

...or better, 2.3 - to avoid any confusion! It's an upgrade, after all, isn't true?

There isn't a change to the colours over the whole film, just the lightsabers, so I don't think it merits a number change. What I have done is placed an L at the end for the improved lightsabers so the file is named differently from the previous V2.2 release, this version will have V2.2L in the filename.

I have also implemented an audio fix as well when the Millenium Falcon is taking off from Mos Eisley, now you can hear the lasers being shot at the ship by the stormtroopers, I hadn't noticed them missing before. It also makes for a much smoother audio transition between that shot and the next shot.

I'm going to create an AVCHD version of this release as well for those that want to be able to just burn it to a dvd9 and watch it straight off their dvd/blu-ray player.

I will be creating a new regrained version of The Phantom Menace and i'll possibly put that one up on myspleen. The other regraded prequels can be found on tehparadox by searching for 'kk650' without speechmarks with the title of the film.

It will be great to see lightsaber screeshot comparisons from V2.2 and V2.2L! (don't hate me for this request...)

I wish I could oblige guys but I deleted the previous V2.2 release a week ago after I pulled it due to not being happy with the lightsabers so I have no file to take screencaps from.

The lightsaber video comparisons I posted before are still available though in this thread, the ones we agreed looked better were the ones I ended up using the settings of so thats exactly how the lightsabers look in this V2.2L release. I've made the saturation levels of the lightsabers consistent across the whole film with those prefered clips.

Thanks nafroe!

Just finishing up the dvd9 AVCHD version of the Star Wars Semi-Specialised Edition V2.2L, then it's time to get cracking on Empire Strikes Back, looking forward to seeing it again with fresh eyes :)

Lol I can only imagine how tired of Star Wars you might be!  I definitely respect your ability to work on these until they're "right."

Hey on a side note I was able to mix in your previous 5.1 soundtrack onto this latest file and it appears to sync up pretty well!
