Disney doesn't call those kinds of shots. They leave it Lucasfilm to make those kinds of calls because they trust them to handle the franchise, as no one else knows it better. It's the same thing they did with Marvel.

As I said before, this is all due to George's vision of the post-ROTJ galaxy and would have happened regardless of if they had sold to Disney or not.
