I know that I'm harsh on it, but I just couldn't relate to the main characters acting foolishly. I guess I'm just not the type for supernatural mystery stuff, so I tried to rationalize what was happening and that took away the suspense.
Well, if I remember right, it was just one of the guys who was unhinged and hysterical and threw the map away in a fit of rage when he was alone, which led to the other two getting really pissed off at him. Also, as others have said, he was going a little crazy and was lost and terrified so I guess it's understandable.
Yeah, but they still had the compass, but didnt use it. A compass doesn't suddenly stop working.
I think the whole "this is totally not fake" hype prior to the movie prevented me from seeing this as "just a movie" with its own reality and logic. I can easily accept magic in Harry Potter but if a film claims to be real, I expect real world logic. And I just don't believe in witchcraft or the like, so this doesn't seem realistic to me.
