In my opinion, the prequels did not suck.  I enjoyed them as much as the OT and my favorite of the 6 is ROTS, but I love them all.  However, a number of people did not enjoy the PT for various reasons, so I accept that they are not for everybody.

That's pretty much exactly what I thought until I was about 12. :P

:)  I looked forward to the PT for a long time, I anticipated learning about young Anakin/Vader and what drove him to become "Vader" and what basis there was  in his past for his retaining that "good in him".  The PT completely exceeded my expectations.  In addition to giving us the lowdown on Vader, we got great new characters like Grievous, Mace, Padme, QuiGon Jinn, Maul, Dooku, etc and learned more about Obi-Wan, Yoda and the beginnings of Luke/Leia.  There were some sour notes like Jar Jar - but that is similar to the OT's Ewoks, neither of which I was particularly fond of.  Nonetheless, the PT was an entertaining adventure with better effects and more saber battles, plus we got to explore the old republic with the temple and its politics, and the Emperor before he looked like a crusted piece of fish, lol.

I have been a fan for many years and I have heard many reasons why the PT sucks, I just do not happen to agree with them.  But then perhaps that is because I am such a huge Vader fan.  For me it is fine if some don't like it.  It is not worth arguing the point at this late date as most are firmly planted in their viewpoint.  Hopefully we all end up agreeing that VII is great.
