The new Star Wars comics - a general discussion thread — Page 6

In my book, associating "Jaxxon" with "sabotage" is borderline heresy. He's one of the primary reasons why I love the Marvel Star Wars comics as much as I do.

They were doing their own take on Seven Samurai when Jaxxon appeared. You'd think Lucas of all people would appreciate lifting from Kurosawa. But, nooooooooooo!

People seldom notice the villain in the story is based on Mad Magazine artist Sergio Aragones.

Anybody got $300 to burn? ;)

If I had $300 to burn on comics, I'd prefer to burn it on actual, physical comics I can hold in my own two hands.

Yeah, for that kind of dough I want a DVD-ROM at the very least. I pared down my collection to mostly the original Marvel run, and the Dark Horse reprints of the original newspaper strips, so I'm good.

I do wonder if Marvel is going to reprint any DH material down the line.

There are now a confirmed SIXTY TWO cover variations for issue #1!

How many more can they squeeze in before publication time?

How many cows can they milk? How many dead horses can they beat? This is modern Marvel we're talking about -- they won't stop 'til the fat lady sings. Even then, they'll just bring her back in one of their stupid crossover events.

Goddammit, I'm just going to be honest here -- I hope these comics sell as poorly as possible. That way Marvel can go bankrupt for wasting money on all these fucking variant covers, forcing Disney to shut down the entire comics division. They deserve utter and complete failure at this point.

If Rocket Raccoon and Jaxxon ever meet up, I'm in! ;)

If Marvel went down the tubes, it might take down what's left of the industry with it, and a lot of comic book shops in the process.

It's just the greedy non comic fans who fall for these gimmicks anyway.

My preference would be that Marvel would sell poor so Disney would give it to a more innovative publisher. Image, DH and others would grow big enough that when DC and Marvel become IP farms the market is not affected.

With their shrinking readership, DC and Marvel are going to fold eventually and someone else will get the license. I just wish it would happen sooner rather than later.

There are some things i would be legit excited at those publishers if their costumers would not be pussies who are afraid of new characters or more obscure ones getting expanded roles.

First issue isn't out for another week but we now have a first look at the second issue!

Gotta say it definitely looks like an improvement over what we've seen for issue #1. Though why does that look like a regular gun?

The prospect of seeing Threepio handle a good, old fashioned handgun is almost enough incentive to make me lift my boycott against Marvel.

Yeah, that gun looks odd. I thought it might be similar to Leia's pistol from the first film, but the barrel is kind of short...

Threepio actually shooting someone is a disturbing thought to me.

Han and Chewie hiding out makes me smile.

Maul's droid shouldn't have been the same droid that appeared in the Droids comics. Speaking of which, how do you feel about the Droids comics?

The Marvel one from their Star comics imprint was fun, (based on the cartoon) especially when they retold the movie from the droids' point of view.

Nice to see some alien looking aliens.

Koryo, it's usually bad form to quote an image heavy post in it's entirety. Snip snip next time?
