BTW, I noticed the scene in which Luke's X-Wing takes off from Dagobah is missing about half a second of frames.

Despite the repeated claims he isn't involved, I like how it's clear that negative1 wrote that info. Not to mention the fact that this has gone private once again.
*shrug*
TV Frank: I really can't understand your persistent need to try to unveil the workings of a group who are obviously trying to cover their asses for legal reasons, whilst bringing us great releases like this.
Are you upset that you're being lied to? Who hurt you as a child?
:)
1st rule of thumb round here ..... never antagonize Frink. He'll never let it go and you'll pull your hair out trying to get the idiocy out of your head.
You should follow you own advice, both here and in off-topic.

Off-topic is un-moderated as you'll remind me there and you post so much off topic stuff in the moderated section without reprecussion that your plea has fallen on deaf ears.

It helps build suspense.
Check out all the earlier posts with video comparisons, for the original.

Thanks to -1 for the original print, and to the rest of the team that worked on it, and continued the project after he left.
Team Negative1
Well now you're just begging me to say something else!
Who cares who's on the team Frink? They identify as a team, that should be that.

I've always been a little team-curious, but I don't identify as such.

Considering that this print has been around for 35 years and that it was probably heavily used, I think it's in surprisingly good shape. All the detail is definitely there and whatever damage there is seems pretty minor. The red shift could be a lot worse and there is quite a bit of remaining color information.
For old folks like me, it brings me back to seeing matinees at the mall after the title had been out for a while. Before the internet, before home video on any meaningful scale. This was it and it was pretty great. Personally, I think the effects hold up pretty well compared with CGI.
Thanks to -1 for the memories and I look forward to SW '77!
Ditto! :) It really is a dream release for me & I'm very thankful to all at Team -1. I never thought I'd be able to see the original version of Empire like this again, and I'm still pinching myself! My download has only just finished (took 4 days with our out of date connection) so hoping to see this tonight. Great way to see in the New Year. Unfortunately we have a family member who we're literally waiting to pass on (he's no longer being fed & just on sedatives) but this release has helped to take my mind of things a little.
I'm wondering if these were private prints, or would have been shown in a theatre during the original theatrical run in 1980? Pretty amazing if they're actual prints used during original screening runs - You can't get more authentic then that! :)
That question itself is an oxymoron.

I dabbled in being on a team in college.
Reel change...very theatrical though...back then you typically did miss a second or so because the heads and tails took some damage. Also why there is more dust, scratches and blotches every 20 minutes. LOVE the reel changes and cigarette burns.
I've already seen the raw print like four times in a row and you know what, I feel like watching it again.
Happy New Year OT, and we are looking forward to an even better one next year.
We have completed the 1080p Bluray version, and will be testing it out. Give us a couple of days to get it ready, and have artwork created. It will be very minimal with a basic menu.
Team Negative1
They aren't called cigarette burns by anyone but Tyler Durden. They are called changeover cues or cue marks. It's nice to see them again.
Just projected it last night. It looks stunning at 120". Thanks Team -1.
“Alright twinkle-toes, what’s your exit strategy?”
Thanks for releasing this, Team Negative1! It's awesome!
You know of the rebellion against the Empire?

I swear I saw the term used long before Fight Club.
Where were you in '77?
Great works guy. I love the raw look of the scan. Thanks for sharing!

I saw that and giggled as well.
:)
@PDB: Those look very nice! If I may ask: did you use photoshop to correct the stills or did you use a video editing program?
Happy new year btw.
We have completed the Bluray 1080p ISO File now, and we are testing it now. The video encoding error is fixed.
We will also burn a BD Disc to make sure that works also.

Awesome news - many thanks to all at Team -1 for their efforts.
A very Happy New Year to everyone here too! ;)
Watched it last night. Awesome work.
Can't wait for Star Wars and ROTJ.
Thank you -1 and Happy New Year.
Happy New Year everyone!
Thank you Team Negative1 for your work. It's nice to finally see a 35mm version released, and even though it's a bit rough I think with some work it'll look a lot like when originally screened. The detail is there for sure! Looking forward to see your future releases.
