There is a Starlord model kit. Only 1:9 scale but still might be fun to build.

VIZ TOP TIPS! - PARENTS. Impress your children by showing them a floppy disk and telling them it’s a 3D model of a save icon.

So have we compared the UK 3D with the UK 2D? I think we may have some kind of international screw-up.

I don't have a 3D setup so no. That disc from my GOTG set is just a handy place to rest my coffee cup ;-)

I'm hoping another European country has a better 2D transfer but I'd only find that out by randomly ordering them and comparing.
Are you saying both Rocket screenshots are from UK sets?

I don't know an action figure you have to build?

I am getting Johny Long Torso flashbacks.

Well, if you want to get to know one, you can order the one shown above, and build it.

Which ones? The two from the previous page? As far as I'm told, the top is from the US2D disc that came packaged with the US3D/2D set. The bottom is from my own UK2D standalone disc (The UK packaged 2D release is identical btw).

Can you even do a 2D screencapture from a 3D Blu-Ray? Not having any experience of home3D I don't know.

You have to buy a bunch of Marvel figures just to get a complete Groot. (There was a similar scheme with the comic version of Rocket a couple years back.) Dr. Forrester must be pleased!

Iron Man wasn't even in the movie!

I have not bought an action figure in years, and I told my friend the other day that I very much wanted a Groot. They knew we sleepers are out here, and they toy with our hidden toy desires.  Well, I will remain Groot free if these are the tactics employed.

Given he's as popular as Rocket, it's a little unfair to kids who just want a Groot to play with. Especially as you have to buy two characters who aren't in the movie.

There are apparently other complete Groot figures in different scales though. The pegs for GOTG toys have been nearly empty the few times I've looked for them. Did they underestimate the demand?

So, I just bought the Czech BD 3D set and can confirm, that the 2D disc has the tint too :-(

Luckily, I watch most of my BDs through my computer, so I can watch the 3D disc in 2D or adjust the colors of the 2D BD on the run.

Well then I am not buying this full stop, I watch my movie in the living room, on my TV so there is nothing I can do to fix this.

Maybe a fan will upload a fixed version on a torrent site, but unless that happens I am not paying for this.

Can anyone tell me if the DvD has this problem?  I hate going back to DvD but it's better then having that stupid tint on the disc.

So, it may be all the Region 2 2D discs then.

Here are the discs from the US Best Buy exclusive Steelbook:

It's really hard to tell with these TV shots....

Wait, you can watch the 3D disc in 2D on your computer? I must try this. (I don't own GotG yet because I haven't been to Best Buy yet)

Yes, with AnyDVD HD (you need the absolute latest beta version for GotG) I can play the 3D BD in MPC-HC in 2D and even in 3D with Stereoscopic Player (I don't have a 3D monitor though, so I can only watch 3D in anaglyph, so that kind of sucks).

Really because it jumped right out at me.  I mean the 2D version is at a completely different angle and it is so dark you can't make out the details are Rocket's face and it looks like he is standing against pitch black and not a room with stuff going on behind him.  There really is no excuse for this.

Can anyone here tell me if the DvD version is okay?  I really don't want to plop down money only to find it has the exact same problem.

Um, DrCrow, I'm pretty sure the things you just flipped out about are because my friend took pictures of his TV in a dark room.

However:

These are direct from my just purchased discs. Check out not only the tint (that you can't tell if you're watching the movie without comparing them like this), but there's a lens flare on the 2D version. Very interesting stuff. I'm hoping that James Gunn will comment on this on Twitter.

Thanks for the heads up Harmy, I was able to play my 3D disc just using my external Blu-ray drive and the cheap Blu-ray software I bought for my Mac. Fantastic.

For those that don't already know, the 2D blu-ray has a green tint throughout the movie.  The 3D/2D version DOES NOT have this tint.  The 3D/2D apparently has the theatrical color-timing.

Source:  KK650's thread over at the paradox site and I've watched sample clips of each.

and this...

stretch009 said:

The 3D version comes with 2D and 3D on the same disc.  Both of them don't have the green tint.  So it's all good, get the 3D set.

stretch009 said:

The 2D copy that comes with the 3D set, which you can currently use, DOESN'T have the green tint.  The 2D-only version has green tint.

Excuse my confusion guys.

doubleofive, I know that you're from the good 'ol U.S. of A., and your screengrabs confirm there's a distinctly greenish re-tint on the 2D disc that comes with your 3D Blu-ray combo set (region A/1).  Gah, and the 'lens flare' difference is certainly curious too...

However...your comparison shots definately seem to contradict stretch009's comments, which I've shown above.

stretch009, are you referring to the region A/1 combo set too?...as doubleofive's screengrabs prove different to what you've said, if so.

And I can't seem to access tehparadox to check out KK650's comments as the site seems to be offline now - however the 'Rocket Racoon' comparison shot that Ryan McAvoy showed on the previous page definitely seems to show that the standalone 2D Blu-ray disc (region B/2) has this awful re-tint too.  But I'm not sure which region KK650's original shot was from.

I'm from the U.K., and was planning to get the 3D Blu-ray combo set (region B/2) shortly...but I'd find this distinctly greenish re-tint almost unwatchable, knowing that some discs have the more natural, Theatrical colouration to them.  So until this is clarified, I'll just hold off...as I'd rather just get the DVD (region 2) if ALL the 2D Blu-ray discs (region B/2) turn out to have this green crap going on.  :(

(and I just hope the DVD has the Theatrical hue, rather than the tint...)

Actually, I readily see the green tint stretch is referring to in 005's comparison above. Is the 2D screengab from the 2D version in the 3D release?

So does that mean the tint is in all of the 2D blu-ray transfers?

Okay, after further reading at tehparadox, there is no GOTG 2D un-tinted version. (Unless you download KK650's regrade, which btw I think is really good)

There is however this option for owners of the 3D BD:

" The way 3D BD versions work now is that they are all 2D m2ts files with an extra folder for 3D info that the Blu-ray player will utilize when the 3D mode has been selected/activated. However on the 3D BD the 2D m2ts file comes with the two different aspect ratios. So all you have to really do is turn that file and only that file into an mkv file and you should have your GOTG 2D IMAX BDRX. My 2D IMAX remux came to over 28 gigs btw and looks fantastic! "   (And it will look like the 3D picture above)

Both of the faces on the 2D version have a greenish tint to them like Spock's face on Star Trek, also the picture is fuzzy.  I will buy the DvD used at some point and when the 3D bluray comes down in price try ripping it. For a release that all the stores in my area are charging $25 for this is just insane. I saw it in 2D in theaters and it did not have that tint, there is no reason they couldn't put that print on the Bluray.

I already have the UK-2DBD ripped to my disc, so if it works I will compare the two and post here (These discs have some advanced ninja copyprotection software so it might not work though).
