Everyone in Cleveland automatically became a basketball fan after the draft slots were announced in 2003.
AKA, when Cleveland knew it was getting LeBron James.

I follow the big 3 sports. The Browns probably need some work, the Indians and Cavaliers are on roughly the same plane of talent...just about ready to break out and become a strong force to deal with.

i am a huge lakers fan. The team got shaken up a bit and it should be interesting to see how things turn out for us this year.

I'd rather watch college ball.

gun i would agree with you if it was 5-8 years ago, but sadly most of, if not all the big time talent is gone out of the NCAA. Sad to see so many kids coming out early, but it has in some ways hurt college ball.

College ball is still a faster game.

College ball is definitely faster. Let the pros take the big-name talent. I have no problem with that. What's left are the people who are playing due to sheer passion for the game. Many never expect to make the pros so they just play their hearts out knowing this could be the end of the line for their ball-playing days. I love it.

I'm a big Kentucky Wildcats fan (grew up five miles from the campus and my first sports exposure was a season-opening midnight practice when I was like 5 or 6 years old). Therefore, I hate Duke.

That's why sometimes you've gotta avoid the NCAA D-1 and go for games in the NCAA D-2 or D-3. D-1 is where most of the people that know they are going to the NBA will play so they get the greatest exposure. D-2 and D-3 schools still focus on academics (God forbid in this day and age) and athletics is second, but the passion is there no doubt.

Exactly. I'll take NCAA anything over the pro leagues. When I was in Miami I saw San Diego State take on the U of Miami Hurricanes @ the Orange Bowl and the speed and passion for the game was just stunning.

Hey way to leave out NAIA D1 and D2, i played on a NAIA D1 team and we waxed a number of NCAA D-2 teams...

Remind me what NAIA is again? I know I've heard of it, but I'm drawing a blank.

I work at an NCAA D-III school and we've got a pretty solid athletics program. We've got a very well-respected baseball team as well as women's soccer, football (sometimes), and men's basketball.

Nation Association of Interscholastic Athletics
basically is about, just a little less than though, the NCAA division II athletic programs, well at least in some areas NAIA schools dont always get the amount of funding for sports across the board as NCAA div II schools do.

So, translated, this would mean that people playing sports at these schools are doing it more for love of the game than anything else, right? They got my respect and love, then.

Same here. I grew up in a basketball town and there's just a passion there that isn't duplicated in the NBA.

Oh i totally agree. I love watching small college games and even highschool... But if the question is NCAA div. 1 vs. NBA. I am going NBA, especially Playoff ball. Watching the best in the world play against the best in the world with passion (in big games and in playoffs.)

I like pro ball sometimes. Watching last year's Pistons was incredible. They were a team. Last year's Lakers, while good, were not a team. They were a bunch of individual personalities clashing on and off the court and that's what ruins pro sports these days. That's why the Lakers imploded and the Pistons trounced them.

Same thing with this year's Red Sox. They were more a team. They were the self-proclaimed "bunch of idiots" (as dubbed by Johnny Damon and perpetuated by the entire team). It helps to do something that eliminates that whole feeling of me me me and replace it with we we we (and if someone makes reference to a toilet or types in "all the way home", I will be very upset).
