Thanks for this GREAT job!

I finally found the seeds to complete and am very impressed with it. Even amazed 4plus full length movies on it. Even HB pulls out 6plus gigs in mp4!

Nevermind seems I figured out the magic of a branching DVD. ;)

Just added real chapter info...

Great job though! Thanks. PRIMITIVE!!

Less important but personally not being a graphic novel fan was disappointed with coverart (still have yet to find full versions) would have much preferred THE BRUCE! to that generic wannabe Ash.

I've been trying to get this for a while but the torrent never seems to work.

I finally got the Primitive Screwhead edition downloaded and I have to say, nice work Ridgeshark!

The extra scenes are cleaned up really nicely.  As far as the aspect ratios, I woudn't worry too much about them considering what a mess the actual film print was.  I worked at a movie theater that showed the film when it was first released and I got to see the film itself.  It was originally mostly open matte and intended to be shown at 1.66:1 aspect ratio but composed to still work if the projectionist misframed it for 1.85:1. I say mostly open matte because, while a lot of frames had information over the entire frame, some of them had artificial matte bars or other wierd stuff that was intended to be matted out.  The US laserdisc version got it mostly right but had a few mis-framed shots and the Japanese laserdisc left it open matte and tried to pan-and-scan the frames with matte bars or other garbage at the top and/or bottom. The DVDs and blu-rays all crop the footage down to 1.78:1 or 1.85:1.

I'm currently in the process of trying to upscale my R3 DVD to 720p.  If that works well, I've been considering combining that with the Blu-Ray footage to create an HD version of the R3 Director's Cut.  I don't know how that will work out, though.

This looks awesome.  I'm a little late to the party to experience this masterpiece?

Are any of these deleted scenes on the blu rays?  I am of course not talking about the altered cuts to remove violence or the silly new audio dubs tv versions do.

I am familiar with the sci fi channel version. With the above.

The HD versions of the film have all been pretty bare-bones.  The HD-DVD had a SD version of the original trailer and the Blu-Ray release had a making-of featurette along with the alternate ending in SD.  The Blu-Ray versions are heavily over-processed, as well, which seems to remove quality from the video along with the film grain. The HD-DVD transfer is currently considered to be the best HD version but it's not without it's own issues.

Oh my god... that's unbelievable. Might have to look into importing if the word's good. Wouldn't be surprised if the quality of the TV cut was bad though.

Very nice, but I don't see where it indicates which versions are HD and which ones are SD. I wouldn't be surprised if they didn't end up only including the European and US theatrical cuts in HD and all the other versions in SD. Even the Region 3 version shows various signs that it was put together from multiple sources, so it's uncertain whether enough HD resources exist to reconstruct the full Director's Cut in 1080p.

Also, that site lists the audio as Dolby Digital 2.0 only, which is kind of disappointing if true.

Don't get me wrong, though.  Even if some of the additional footage from one of the international releases was included in HD, that would be a bonus.

They're running out of copies so I hope someone can get it and see if there's any differences and such sorry for bumping a dead thread, but I felt that this version was somewhat important. Here's a google translated review.

"The movie of course I know by heart, but I had to retaliate for this publication. At first the positive points: The picture is really very good. Also comes in true HD feeling! The new scenes in the Director's Cut, which was not available in HD difficult to spot and were integrated very clean and without tone jumps in the film. In other forums was, however, complained that the image partially full of dirt which is strong film grain and sometimes even flicker. course you should not expect any picture of current blockbusters and all erhlich belongs film grain is not it?! Who wants a smooth ironed picture with wax faces? Due to the higher resolution the film grain is now even stronger than DVD's Great contamination could I now, however, is unable to identify, but would not really bother me. although the sound is only in DD 2.0 before, but it is quite clear, noise-free and easy to understand. To me it is enough as it is. The extras are very short, but very informative and interesting, especially the Booklett. too, the preparation for the box has become very beautiful, but I would have rather have a box like in THE RAID desired ;) However, there are also two negative points: The audio commentary is not subtitled German. The picture on the box has been (as with many others) unfortunately glued wrong. Since Koch Media would really be better to watch it. But unfortunately deducted a star. Trotzder two defects a very gelungende publication, whether the DVD's now no need or ...."

Sadly one review said the picture quality was bad, while this one said it had too much grain. Though it seems this might only be for the DVD versions? Still I'd be happy if someone would take a look since this compilation is unique.

I've just registered here to pass on my thanks to all those who were involved with the creation of the Primitive Screwhead Edition. I bought the first US Anchor  Bay Numbered release and the UK Evil Dead Trilogy box, also by Anchor Bay. I also own the MGM region 4 and 3 DVDs.

It has always frustrated me that so many of the extended and deleted scenes were, understandably, in such poor condition. The restoration that has been done is nothing short of miraculous! I sat and watched the Overdose version with the original beginning and apocalypse ending, and it was like a breath of fresh (well, maybe mouldering) air. Picture quality was far better than I expected and the new sound mix is very good.

I'd like to extend my sincere gratitude to all of you for making one of my all time favourite films such a pleasure to watch. It was like seeing it for the first time again.

If only the movie studios undertook restoration of cult and obscure films as seriously as you all have done.

Kudos!!! :)

Hi there! I've been looking all over the net for this edit since AoD is my favorite movie and I would love to see an extended version(s) of it. I tried contacting Ridgeshark and also downloading a torrent, but to no avail so far. Would anyone still have a good upload of it? Vob or iso files please.

Is there anyway you could send that to me aswell? It might not be much incentive, but you'd be restoring my childhood and a small part of my faith in humanity.

Hi guys,

I have downloaded this from... somewhere, I don't even remember, and I'm having trouble burning it to disc; specifically it won't come out as the branching version it should be.

I'm using Nero 10, and neither the 'Express' or 'Vision' functions seem to work except to order the alternate openings and endings one after the other.

What am I missing?

I can't bring myself to watch it until it's presented as it should be.

Alternatively, maybe someone wouldn't mind sending me a hard copy to relieve me of this stressful experience? I'd be eternally grateful!

Any help will be very appreciated.
Thanks heaps,

Lino.

Hey, I signed up just for this. I was just wondering, is there any way to still get a copy of this, at least a torrent? Every torrent I find won't download at all, no seeders or leechers.

Sorry about bumping this, but I just burned this to a DVD today and it kind of pauses for a split second before each chapter, which is kind of annoying. Is there any way to fix this, or is it normal? It might be because I burned it onto a DVD+R instead of a DVD-R, but I'm not a professional, so I don't really know.

The media should not matter.  Try the disc on another machine and see if the problem persists.

Hello all, Could somebody please PM me a link where to get this awesome extended cut? I just bought the AUS Definitive set and along with my limited Anchor Bay dvd, this will nearly cpmplete my AOD collection.

Thanks in advance!

Sorry to bump this but I've been trying to track down a working download for this for a couple of days now, I own three different versions of this film including the original uk tv broadcast but tbh I'm not completely happy with any of them and this sounds to me like the definitive version. If someone could pm me a working link I'd be grateful, thanks in advance...
