In any case, my take on the SW Universe, it's characters, and its metaphysics doesn't mesh all that well with most of the EU's, so the point is moot.

If you're going to make grammatical errors, at least be consistent about it.

Meanie. ;-(

The upcoming Tarkin novel reveals that the Jedi Temple became the Imperial Palace.

I always knew Palpatine would defile the Jedi temple with blackjack and hookers. ;)

I love your sense of humor, Wook.

Well, I'm starting my own Imperial Palace!  With blackjack!  And hookers!

Ah, screw the whole thing.

I've been slowly going through the post-ROTJ EU in chronological (story, not release) order lately. My only prior EU experience was the Thrawn trilogy, Darksaber (ew), and Splinter of the Mind's Eye. So far, here's what I like about the EU:

  • The Thrawn Trilogy - can't wait until I get to re-read those!
  • That Truce at Bakura introduced a new, non-Sith and non-Imperial threat in the Ssi-ruuk (even though the novel was still basically the heroes against the Empire)
  • Luke Skywalker and the Shadows of Mindor because it was fucking awesome and loads of fun to read
  • X-Wing: Rogue Squadron so far (about halfway through it)

In Darth Plagueis, Palps's father pushes him to be friends with the guy on the left in this picture:

There is literally nothing about the EU that is useful. It's that kind of mindset that transformed Star Wars from a contained, well-told story taking place in a mysterious setting, into a meaningless serial filled with rubbish.

Basically, this.

WRONG THREAD!

It's not the wrong thread. The question was asked, "what do you like about the EU?" I responded "nothing". Not a darn thing. And explained why.

Which is basically the same as going into a thread about -- say -- favourite hobbies and saying "not stamp collecting".

Either give an example of something you actually like (not the absence of that something, but the actual something) or just go to the "What do you HATE about the EU?" thread and say "everything".

I did that. And that doesn't change the fact that I still answered the question here correctly.

It's amazing to me you can't find even one comic or novel that you like?

I can't imagine my childhood without the early Marvel comic, or the Brian Daley Han Solo books.

*sigh*

"Nothing" isn't "something". "Nothing" -- like it says on the label -- is "nothing".

The EU is dead. That posts belong in General Thoughts if anywhere.

Zahn wanted to call the Noghri "Sith" (with Vader being a "Dark Lord of the Sith" because they served him) and wanted Joruus to be a clone of Obi-Wan, but Lucas advised Zahn against both of these ideas.

That is certainly one of the stupidest ideas of EU that I am aware of.
