When I meant a 300 year period, I meant from 1850 to 2150. It has never been this abrupt and catastrophic before, hardly a "natural cycle" the pro-carbon activists want you to believe. Maybe it will be a 2C rise in the next century, but it probably be much higher than scientists are currently predicting thanks to a runaway greenhouse effect that will be triggered in the next few decades. There is a lot of carbon in permafrost and the oceans: warming the Earth will release it. Remember, it took 100 million years for all that coal and oil to be made in the first place. Burning all of it within the space of a hundred years is fatal. Evolution can't work fast enough compensate this geologically instantaneous event, hence niches will be emptied, and the whole tree of life crumbles like a house of cards.
