Interesting idea. I seem to remember when the movies were coming out that it was purple because Samuel Jackson specificially asked for a purple one so that he could better see himself on screen in scenes with dozens of jedi fighting. Who knows if it's true but it's what I've always thought. So I guess it's purple just so Sammy can watch himself doing the jedi acrobatics lol.
