City until proven innocent, eh?
City until proven innocent, eh?
So the testimonies of fourteen women who were his victims are automatically invalid? Many male celebrities are being outed as sexual predators nowadays, and we are undergoing one of the most misogynistic eras in recent history (gamer gate and rape culture, for example).
These allegations have ruined Cosby forever for me, and I'm even wondering if he was ever funny to begin with.

He was, but you're right it ruined him for me as well.
Plus the fact that rape culture has gotten worse in the last few year, almost to the point that we might be just as bad as the Taliban (in some aspects) when it comes to women's issues here.
Considering Black Dynamite had Cosby as a villain in a recent episode, (the Fat Albert references got me right between the eyes) and they made a reference to date rape, this seems to have been below the surface for a very long time.
However, most people posting those pictures on Twitter are your typical trolling assholes with no interest in whether he's actually guilty or not. And that standup comedian who apparently reignited this with by joking about it in his act probably wasn't acting out of some sense of injustice either.
Is he guilty? I have no idea. But the court of public opinion seems to have already made it's judgement. The groundbreaking positive roles he's played over the decades are forever going to be overshadowed by this now.

I really hope he's innocent, but the evidence doesn't seem to point that way at the present moment. It's sad if it's true.
I heard that 97% of all rapists are never charged or convicted in this country. Being female nowadays is like being a Jew during the Holocaust.

You of all people should know when a man is city.

Sounds like one of the Mad Hatter's riddles.
"When is a man a city?"
You're so funny. I would have never expected you to make that joke, you're so clever and spontaneous.
Sarcasm aside, just joking, it would be a waste if you hadn't.
Here's another side to the whole Bill Cosby thing:

I have no opinion at the moment. Neither side seems more convincing than the other.
How about the side against rape? How would you feel if 97% of all murderers got away scot-free? Or say that murder victims deserved do die in the first place because they were asking for it?
This is today's rape culture people, where any man can sexually assault any woman on the street without any repercussions down the road. It's even better if you're a famous comedian, football player, filmmaker, or politician; the public can just slutshame your victims into silence! This is how extremely sexist modern society is, where being raped is always the victim's fault, and being famous gets rid of all those pesky laws that ordinary people have to obey.
And it's not just because Cosby thinks black people should clean up their act.
Indeed, but we shouldn't presume he's guilty when he could be innocent. I think the evidence points the opposite way, but many rapes have been made up in the past. Fourteen victims is a lot, though.
Man, even when I agree with gf he's annoying.

Mike Tyson did jail time, if you remember.

So did Michael Vick after raping those dogs.
Kobe Bryant got off the hook though, thanks to a mistrial.
George Lucas got off as well.
...
What, you all were thinking it too.
Another allegation against Cosby just came in, from Janice Dickinson no less:

"I am now ..."
At this rate, Cosby could become the next Jimmy Savile.
If this woman mentioned the encounter in a 2002 book, it doesn't make sense she only told half of it then.
With the passage of time, it's unfortunately going to be very hard to prove anything. If it's all true, then these women were failed by a whole lot of people, especially their agents and managers. And a popular celebrity was enabled by those in his inner circle to cover things up. Someone from his camp would have to break their silence to take this to the next level.

Look, it sounds like it could be true, but simultaneously, a number of allegations could easily be bandwagon opportunities. My point is not that it's false, but that to assume it's true so assuredly is dangerous.
I should add that I suspect that rape culture has actually been popular for quite some time among such sleezebags, and that it has only come to greater light in recent years.
As for "City until proven innocent," I cannot blame my Kindle Fire for this one, but perhaps folks might understand if they bear in mind that I was typing after working all night, and thus being very tired.
The NBC sitcom is probably dead. But it is at such an early point in development, the network can plausibly walk away from it without looking like they're fleeing from it.
