Blackmagic just announced that Fusion 7.5 (the 2D and 3D compositing suite) is now available for download for free, they also have a Studio Version that is $995, but the only thing really missing from the free version is network rendering and stereoscopic support.

The free version works with up to UHD resolution.

This is massive news for anyone doinf fan edits or film restoration, this is a pro level tool that is now available to everyone. I can't believe BMD got this out so quickly after the acquisition announcement.

This will be a game changer for the amatuer film makers, between the free version of Resolve and Fusion, you really can be using the same tools that are used in production, at no cost. Amazing.
