well who said fixing problems affects the true story of starwars? i wasnt saying add stuff i was only suggesting to maybe fix certain things in the original movie eventually. lets face it theres lots of incorrect problems with the visuals in the original trilogy.

Yes and those problems can be for other projects to fix - the aim of this project is and always has been and always will be to recreate the original version as closely as possible - I don't know why we're even talking about this...

i guess its just to say that it can be done eventually on a seperate version atleast. like we can enjoy version #1 as a theatrical feel as if you would watch it the first time and version #2 as a home edition pretty much the same thing only difference things would be corrected and fixed. honestly i would be down to contribute to do so..............by the way im not here to be like george lucas and start protesting this project. on the contrary im supporting this movement. dont give up men ;)

You're probably not referring to our friend with the crotchless kangaroo outfit, are you?

I thought we weren't going to bring that up again.

But then where does it stop?  Who decides "certain things"?  Why not take the films as they were originally released? Isn't that the purpose behind the existence of this website?

You can't fix stuff in the original movie because then it wouldn't be the original anymore. Period.

Btw, are there also correct problems besides those incorrect problems..?

Plus Harmy's work will be the ideal starting point for any changes people want to make. Just like when you're making a photocopy you want a clean original so your copy looks good.

The Despecialized Edition will be the ideal starting place to go in and make whatever changes people want, that way they're not starting from someone else's decisions of what changes to make, first.

Except in the cases where Harmy unfixed fixes made later.

I showed ESB to my daughters for the first time yesterday. They'd seen Star Wars but I'm spacing the rest out so the big one can see The Force Awakens in the theaters. Here's the moment when Yoda appears:

Wow, she looks a lot like my niece! Always good to see a new fan in the making. :) Did any scenes scare her? My niece hasn't seen any Star Wars films yet, so I'm especially curious how Darth Vader and the Emperor hologram went over.

What can you get a Wookiee for (Life Day) Christmas when he already owns a comb?

Did any scenes scare her?

A little, maybe. Kids vary *wildly* on how scared they get by stuff. Compared to other kids her age I think she's not as scared by movies as others. Like, she had a four-year-old friend over who got nervous during a Bugs Bunny and wanted it turned off. Also much of what's scary in Star Wars requires you to really understand why it would be scary and I'm not sure she's getting it on that level at this point. The Emperor's stuff in RotJ is scarier probably since he's directly menacing.

So I was browsing around various Star Wars news sources when I discovered that Harmy did a podcast that was just released!

Haven't listened to it yet. I'll probably update this post once I have.

Good interview.  Cool to hear Harmy detail his opinions.  Interested in the LOTR color correction...

The podcast was quite interesting.  It's interesting to know that Harmy is interested in other projects such as Harry Potter and The Hobbit.  Although personally, I would like Harmy to prioritize the next version of ROTJ as his next release :)

I share Harmy's appreciation on how the Star Wars movies are enjoyed by others and hearing their stories.

I want to thank Harmy and others who contributed their efforts on these Despecialized Editions.  I know we don't want to profit from the distribution of these videos.  However, last month, for a fundraising event called Extra Life, I raised $3,800 for my local Children's Hospital by playing Star Wars video games for 24 hours.  I also screened Harmy's Despecialized Star Wars as one of the main features.

Harmy's work has not only brought back great memories for older Star Wars fans but in a way, has help contribute to improving child health care.

Keep up the great work!

In spite of my own personal ambivalence about this, and the fact that IANAL, I should point out that all public performances, even nonprofit performances, should first get permission from the copyright owner, etc etc.

I'm assuming Surf Warrior got all required permissions in advance (probably for the Special Editions, but that's likely good enough), and so his fundraiser was entirely kosher, but I didn't want anyone reading the above and thinking you could just show the DeEd at a public event without going through the proper channels.

^This. But also, awesome! I'm glad that my work has in some small part contributed to such a worthy cause! :-)
