Would someone please send me a copy of the game file as is? My laptop has bitten the dust and I need to try to save my files there, but I'm not at that point yet. My desktop is now set up so I can use that. Thanks.

Arg. Having trouble with MS Office.  Free software not allowing hex background.  Working on iit.

I'm so frustrated.  I know I have an old copy of MS Office 2003 somewhere, but I can't find it.  The freeware office suites don't let me use the hex picture as a background behind the cells, so either I can't see the pieces or I can't see the board (it's pretty hard to visualize as just the staggered rectangles).  I've been very busy and can't take my PC with me like I can the laptop, so I can't sneak in moves as often.  So I haven't been able to get this to work.  It's kind of irritating.  I hope your dad hasn't lost interest. :(

Maybe my dad can send me a screenshot of the board so I can post it for you and you can move. We won't be able to play quickly that way, but it's better than just sitting and waiting. Hopefully you get everything worked out soon.

Great news!  I figured it out!  So my next move is P9zaa-10yz.

I'm using LibreOffice, which appears to be matching the coordinate descriptions, but let me know if that move doesn't work.

That king of yours has certainly become an odd fellow since darth_ender's laptop met with its end. I do wonder if his brains were addled with too much time in the sun and not enough strategy in the past few days.

Ender, you'd better get that pawn defended before he gets illumined.

I think all my pawns are defended.  I've got a different idea, and hopefully it works.  I will attack his lance with mine, while you attack your dad's king with your gold general.  Double attacks are the only way to gain any kind of upper hand.  In the end I think we'll only gain a pawn, but any gain is a good thing.

Ender, ender, there's no sharing allowed in this game! Either you use an X to capture his lance or you stay in your own hexagonal bubble. ;) And your pawn is protected--I didn't realize my bishop was covering that hex. However, this raises the question: can one member of an alliance protect another's pieces from illumination? After all, I am still legally able to capture your pieces, so long as I don't check your king.

Yes, you do defend my pieces.  I've made sure of that through reading.  But you are right, what I did was make a capture. :)
