I'd be happy with a 720p up-conversion.  With the Director's Cut DVD, deleted scenes, and HDTV captures it should be possible to assemble a replicated version of your original.

It may be wishful thinking but who knows what the future could bring.

Thanks FF, for what you did do, it is great to have either way.

I wish I could do a HD version with the corrections included.

I just don't know anything about the newer ripping methods, video codecs, and how they work with Windows 7.  My SLV version was done on an old Windows XP computer.

FF

If you want I can provide you with the assets I'm using; I have all the non-theatrical SD footage ripped, de-interlaced, upscaled, and denoised in 422 ProRes (I still need to remove all the dirt from the footage); In addition to your analog track I'm in the process of securing a bit-perfect rip of another SLV LD that had a PCM track (it was a Japanese disc); and I have the HDTV broadcast, Blu-Ray, and both trailers (which contain some extra shots, such as the "smirk" from Chapel) in 175X DNxHD.

This should be enough to reconstruct your edit using any popular NLE software, as well as the latest Davinci Resolve which has some editing functionality.

WOW!  You know I am seriously considering doing this. It would have to be started after the New Year holiday. I would start sometime in January, and hope for it to be finished by Easter.  How does that sound?

 That would be cool.

Btw I'd like to offer the German VHS audio track, which I've offered to Synnöve, to you as well. Would you be interested?

You are welcome mackit.  My connection isn't huge so I'm glad folks are being patient.  I will stay on seeding til a few folks get it 100% and then I'm going to let them take over.

No worries about how long it will take.

Thank you Shade.  I'm working on a free connection at the moment and sometimes I lose it for a bit.  I always come back and I see most everyone is at 42% or so, that is good.

Your patience is appreciated.

Jettrell must have lost his connection...My DL percentage hasn't moved in the past several hours. Hopefully he gets it back again!

Well, it is Sunday morning. I've noticed over the years that many people go offline for a time and will return either Sunday afternoon or evening.

Wow! The Nurse Chapel 'smirk" exists in the trailers? and in good quality.

That makes the project worth it.

Remember, Highlander, you’ve both still got your full measure of life. Use it well, and your future will be glorious.

I lost my internet connection.  As of today, it was seeded through to ALL those waiting.  As promised.

I hope we will have some folks stay on and seed.  It would help immensely.

Enjoy!!!

I'm glad you're back and finished seeding the torrent.

I hope everything with your connection works out.

And yes, I will continue to seed.

It's been a while since I've been on but I just finished this dl yesterday and will also continue to seed for all. Thank you for this!!

I'm currently trying to figure out a few projects that I've come up with and will be posting about them soon. I'm still kind of new to this but I know the community here is very helpful.

I recently viewed the version on "lye green".  Thank you for this hard work you did years ago.  I respectfully would like to share some thoughts and questions.

Why 29.97 fps instead of 23.976 fps?  None of the sources would be as fast as 29.97.  This means extra duplicated frames are now in the video.  If you watch carefully, there is an annoying jitter.  Just watch the upside down space man passing over the shuttle bay doors during the Kirk / Scotty pass by of the Enterprise.  Once noticed, it can not be unseen.  It occurs over the course of the entire video.  If these duplicated frames were removed, the video would remain in it's original 23.976 fps and play smoothly.  As a bonus, the video file will be smaller as well :)

Why mix in all the difference sources?   Why not just a plain rip of the HDTV broadcast only?  Or perhaps use the laserdisc only?  This would seem much easier, and not have varying differences as it is viewed.

Where did the audio interviews come from?  Nice find!

Hi everyone,

I just found this forum, and a widescreen version of the Special Longer Version is absolutely the holy grail of missing Star Trek things for me.  I would absolutely love a copy of this.. but I have no idea how to get a login at the "lye green" site.  Is there any other way to get this, or anything I can do to get on there?  I'm happy to seed this for as long as I can, I think it's absolutely amazing work.

Thanks for your time and for reading and apologies for my stupid newbie questions.
