Episode VII: The Force Awakens - Discussion * SPOILER THREAD * — Page 48

Chewie is supposed to be around 200 years old in the OT. 30 years since Jedi isn't going to mean a heck of lot with that kind of lifespan. I don't see cats or dogs getting gray as they age.

And didn't we have this same discussion about his appearance in ROTS? ;)

Off topic, but dogs absolutely do go grey/white with age.

....carry on.

Yes, but not as much as people do. ;)

Well it's certainly a better title than "The Phantom Menace" that's for sure.

It's a perfect title for a Star Wars film, the title was one of the few good things about that mistake.

I agree with the Bingo and the Harmy. I fear the title is trying too hard and I see no reason for the Force to have been dormant. I'd prefer a more grounded title - like there being a new hope, or an empire striking back, or even the Jedi (who were actually practically extinguished) returning. HotRod is correct on the distressing matter of hair.

It could be about awakening the Force in a specific individual. We probably won't know either way for a long time yet.

I see what you did there, though I don't think you meant it.

I love it!

Remember, Highlander, you’ve both still got your full measure of life. Use it well, and your future will be glorious.

I'm thinking it's a mislead made out to be something that it isn't.  It might have more to do with the re-awakening of the Star Wars universe into the culture it is remembered for creating.

That's just my take anyways.

The title feels a bit generic but it's okay. Awesomeness of episode titles isn't really an indicator of quality in SW movies anyway ;-). Did anybody in that "guess the title" thread get it right?

VIZ TOP TIPS! - PARENTS. Impress your children by showing them a floppy disk and telling them it’s a 3D model of a save icon.

^ I skimmed through that thread looking for mentions of the Force, I think these two came the closest (although the former got the episode number wrong). Furthermore, there was some talk about how it would be a good idea to use the word force in the title.

It will be something insipidly stupid like Rise of the Force, or Return of theSith.

My dog started off completely red in color. 13 years later he's almost completely white.

I am what all Jedi fear to become, and what all Sith wish to be. A GOD!

Wookiee years and dog years are different? ;)

No, his comparison is completely relevant as most Wookiees have their pigmentation intact when they are up to 200 years old (started off) but once they reach their 230th birthday (13 years) they should mostly be grey/white haired.

We want you to be aware that we have no plans—now or in the future—to restore the earlier versions.

If that's from the EU, all bets are off. It's bad enough people call me Itchy behind my back. And I don't even own one of those holographic hair dryers. ;)

I was only trying to be funny but I'm not good at it in text form. ;)

I think the EU implied at one point that wookiees were super-evolved banthas. If true, then perhaps we should look to the bantha lifespan for concrete answers. ;-)

I never liked any of the SW titles, so I don't mind this one

http://makingstarwars.net/2014/11/john-williams-recorded-star-wars-force-awakens-teaser-music-today/

Today, we received several reports about John Williams recording Star Wars cues at a Sony scoring stage. The Maestro is apparently recording the music for the new Star Wars: The Force Awakens teaser. As we’ve mentioned before, we heard the rough edit of the teaser was just a little over a minute long, showing off new characters from the film and culminating with the return of the Falcon to the big screen! We also heard that this rough edit was cut to existing Star Wars cues. The music recorded today was described by one source as a medley. Most likely what is being heard features new tiny transitions to make all the various cues line up to hit the beats the editors of the teaser envisioned.

So is it new or old Star Wars music that was recorded today? Most likely you will not be hearing a new leitmotif, you’ll have to wait until The Force Awakens is near release to hear that. Also the full score may not be recorded with the London Symphony Orchestra according to those in the know. John Williams has not left the country in ten years and he feels he’s getting too old to travel abroad. Disney has apparently signed an agreement with the AFM (American Federation of Musicians) to keep movie and television score recording based in the United States. It is much cheaper to go abroad (hence why Kevin Kiner went to Prague to record The Clone Wars final scores with a live orchestra. Anyways, the probability that John Williams will record in Southern California is much more likely.
