No, the single analog track would just be mono.

I haven't seen the theatrical version since I was a kid. I would really love it if I could get the first version of this project as well!!

I'm still wondering if any progress is being made on the second version. Does anyone have any idea about that?

I'm also interested in v.2. Any updates?

Did Jimbo already get hold of the LD audio or is he still waiting for it to be captured?

I would also love to be able to check this out - this is one of my all time favorite movies...

I've been holding out for a HD release of the Theatrical cut for years, but I don't think it's ever going to happen at this point...

I am also extremely interested in this. Thank you.

Status update on version 2 -

I should have the original laserdisc mix in the next few weeks, at which point I will sync it and upload the final version (version 2).  Another member of OT has kindly offered to acquire the laserdisc and transfer the audio for me.

I have made numerous small tweaks to what was version 1.  I went back and compared the Blu-ray to the DVD pretty much shot for shot and made edits accordingly so that the DVD mix could more easily sync to the HD footage.  I noticed that the director's cut had shots here and there with a few extra frames, so I trimmed them.

I plan on dropping the lossless 5.1 mix from the Blu-ray and going only with the 5.1 mix from the DVD and the original mix (I forget if it's mono or stereo).

WOW!! one of the best films....

This is one film that i wanted to see in it's theatrical version on Bluray and now you have made that possible. Thanks

Remember, Highlander, you’ve both still got your full measure of life. Use it well, and your future will be glorious.

I was literally JUST thinking about making my own HD theatrical cut restoration of Amadeus. So I looked up on Google to see if by chance someone else already had the idea and BAM, I found you guys! Is it getting pretty close to being finished? And if so, how can I get a hold of it? (I have a MySpleen account, if that's where you're hosting it).

You guys are awesome!

Was there a previous post about some of the video editing or audio editing techniques used to restore the theatrical video & audio into the Amadeus bluray?  I have some fan edit animation projects in mind.  Thanks!

I do prefer the Amadeus theatrical cut, so I'm patiently waiting for the completion of your 2nd version with the LD mono audio track.

Actually, the original mix was Dolby Stereo. Mono came up while discussing the isolated score on the Pioneer CLV disc, and the tradeoff between the LD version not being compressed, but being analog mono (one channel of the analog track), and the original DVD being digital and stereo, but 192kbps.

At this point, I think the stereo trumps the compression. The music was mixed in stereo, so a definitive presentation should have an isolated track in stereo too.

Found this thread by Googling "Amadeus theatrical cut." I am quite excited about this project. I'd be grateful if anyone could point me in the direction of this restoration. I'll also definitely be keeping tabs on this thread for when the new version is ready.

Im also wondering how to enjoy this restoration.

I can't seem to find it anywhere.

Hey everyone.  I'm a little late to the party, but I'd really appreciate the link, too.  Thanks in advance.
