That's not bad, and I think I have an official copy of it...although I'll have to check, I may only have the VHS from Shout.
Could you sneak in a MST3k riff? Joel/Mike and the bots could be heard in the theater somewhere.
In episode 513 The Brain That Wouldn't Die, there is the line "Join me Luke, or star in Corvette Summer."
Where were you in '77?

Another usable sample this time from Superman 2 are the lines :
LEX LUTHOR : Why didn't you go before we left?
MISS TESCHMACHER : That was two days ago.
Ok, I think it may have finally sunk in. I take it "go" means potty-time.
I thought it was "go" as in "leave." I haven't seen Superman 2 in a long time.
JEDIT: The problem here, and to a lesser extent with the MST3K idea, is that it won't be clear where the voices are coming from. Not that it has to be clear, but it could be confusing.
Is there some kind of filter you can use to make the voices sound farther away? Maybe just make them quiet, so that they're obviously background voices?
I'm sure there is. In the past I've just lowered the volume to achieve a similar effect.
Can't you put the off screen voices in the rear channels? There were a lot of other opera boxes besides Palpatine's.
One of my favorite bits in TRM was when you had the car alarm, and other ambient sounds going on in the rear speakers. Nobody else does surround sound jokes.
Where were you in '77?
IIRC the car alarm and dog barking bit was Bob's idea (just to give him credit) but yes, I do use the rear channels from time to time. And yes, I could do that here as well. That actually makes a lot of sense for the MST3k guys.
JEDIT: The more I think about that, the more I like it. That would avoid the problem of us just watching ESB without any jokes happening.
I presume you have this episode? ;)

Possible youngling recording noises.

If something is labeled [HILARIOUS], it probably isn't.
Subjectively I would say that the manner by which the child is repeatedly saying, "WHY DO YOU KEEP KILLING ME?...I'm telling my dad" is pretty darn funny.
There are few things as compelling as the sincere emotions of a child over trivial things. That he is so miffed at being repeatedly murdered (in a computer game context) adds a layer of surreality which I thought might be apropos.
I don't normally do this but I've been stuck on this scene for a while now so I'm posting it unfinished.

After Anakin says "binge drinking" is the point where I'm stuck and haven't been able to figure out where to go with it. One idea I had was to have Padme's next line be "Ani you'll always be that little drunk I knew on Tatooine" but I can't find any way to get Nat to say "drunk." Another thought I had was to play some of this after she says "our love."

But I don't love it. And regardless, I can't figure out how to get out to the next scene.
Any ideas are appreciated.
I'm afraid I don't have any ideas, but is there any way you could decrease the echo on that bit in the beginning? I can't figure out for the life of me what is being said in the first part, before what I'm fairly certain is "too beautiful for you."
EDIT: Or is it meant to be completely unintelligible because he's drunk?
Cool song. Creepy depressing video.
I'll look through the few Natalie movies I have for the proper word. Would be funny if she said "no plot". ;)
Also, since they are outside, you could lay in a lot of annoying traffic sounds. Horn honking, angry drivers yelling and cursing, and some Jetsons car sounds? I think there's a traffic jam or two in Futurama?
JEDIT: Maybe she could say "you'll always be my little slave"?

PADME : Hold me, like you did by the lake on Naboo; so long ago when there was nothing but yesterday. No liberty, no younglings, no sand.
^ YES!

It's not meant to be unintelligible. Perhaps you're having trouble because of the horrible accent?
Anyone else having trouble with it? I'd rather not reduce the echo too much.

That's pretty great...although I might look for something else instead of "liberty."

If you do find something worthwhile (especially "drunk") let me know and I'll happily go buy a copy.
All I have for sure is Mars Attacks! and Your Highness. Natalie's voice seems to have matured faster than Hayden's did in the 90's. ;)

I completely understood what annie was saying. Except for the cans of beans line, had to rewind that. I really love what you've done with him in that scene. Their relationship never worked in the original, so making annie a druggie, I dunno it just really works for me. First line had me laugh out loud already.
Thanks!
Thanks!
JEDIT: *sigh*
I also had trouble with the can of beans line, but probably because it's a brand name, making it harder to recognize on the first listen. I still can't figure out what the really echo-y voice at the beginning is saying before the second part of the dialogue spliced in (that second part being the "too beautiful for you" or whatever it is).
