What? Bioware is known for being bad at storyteling?

For the most part people don't care about narrative in video games so my guess is: they probably aren't. Who cares, though? You can whack things until they drop dead and romance some terrible npcs recycled from other Bioware games where you can whack things until they drop dead and romance some terrible npcs recycled from other Bioware games. Yay.

Yeah, I'm still bitter over the fact that after an incredibly exciting and creative period in the 90s when crpgs bloomed (Fallout, Planescape: Torment, Arcanum to name a few examples) there came the Dark Ages when crpgs had to cater to the widest possible audience and become bloated, terribly written, mind-numbingly dull self-parodies in order to even recoup the ridiculous budgets spent on presentation - a focus which impeded every other aspect of said games.

No sabers and no Jedi.

I'd be fine with that as well. Not that there's ever going to be a Star Wars movie completely devoid of Jedi.

Jedi not using lightsabers doesn't seem like an outlandish concept to me, though. The Emperor wasn't particularily fond of them so who says he's the only one? If the Death Star wasn't a match for the power of The Force why would a silly laser sword be any better? :)
