As some of you know, I have decided to start an "Halloween [spoRv]" project, using laserdisc as color reference. But I needed to find that disc. Right now, after literally hours of researches through my infinite collection, spanned over several days, and after I looked at any title twice or three times, I finally found it!
And discovered that I have not the simple, plain Criterion version... no... I have the FULL FLEDGED VERSION! Yes, not the #310, but the #247; according to LDDB:
Extras include:
Commentary with writer/director/composer John Carpenter, writer/producer Debra Hill and actress Jamie Lee Curtis
The original theatrical trailer
Separate music and effects track (analog left)
Additional footage shot for the 1980 television release
Gene Siskel and Roger Ebert give splatter movies the thumbs down while praising Halloween in a controversial 1980 Sneak Previews segment
Photo essay on the making of Halloween
Photo Essay on splatter films
Illustrated filmographies of John Carpenter, Donald Pleasence and Jamie Lee Curtis
The cover also contains the famous review by Tom Allen (Village Voice)
This transfer was made from a newly minted 35mm Panavision print made from the original negative, the 35mm magnetic master mono soundtrack, and the 35mm magnetic mono music and effects track.
Footage from the television release is presented full-frame, transfered from the original 1-inch master created for broadcast.
Also contains:
Genre guide by John McCarty, author of Splatter Movies: Breaking the Last Taboo of the Screen, including capsule reviews of cold-blooded killer movies from The Bad Seed to Halloween 5
Programme order given if you want to watch the film with the extra sequences which are at the end of sides 1 & 2.
So, the task is becoming harder than I imagined... well, maybe it was discussed here before, but because I'm too lazy to re-read 200+ posts, I'll ask anyway...
Are those extras present in the BD(s) or DVD(s)?
Apart the obvious color regrading, and inclusion of the original PCM soundtrack from the laserdisc, should I add something more? I mean, commentary, the isolated score, the television scenes - that I'm quite sure they are present in digital format, but are they color corrected like the movie itself? - and what about those extras?
