If Leia does not appear earlier in the film, the graverobber's identity will be obvious. Everyone knows Carrie Fischer's in this film.

The mechanical bits could be a disguise. Either she applies them as a mask or she refrains from covering them with false flesh when she is being openly evil.

She would have a respectable public face and a scary secret evil face (like Palpatine).

It's what I do.. would do... in that situation... if I ever found myself in that situation...
