Everyone thinks it's Mark when it clearly makes sense it's Carrie :-D

If his first student went bad it would kind of put Luke out of setting up a new Jedi Temple.

Leia has a habit of raiding the dressing up box and choking people to death.

I'm not usually a gambler but I might even lay a bet on that. It would explain why it seems Han is not with her anymore.

Plus its a good excuse to cover that fucked up. plastic looking face of hers!!

Very interesting theory, Bingowings, and IMO, preferable to it being Luke (which I don't believe it is). I do have mixed feelings about it, though.

There are a few problems, even if I think it's a pretty solid theory

  • If Leia appears in the film not-in-evil-garb, how will she hide the mechanical parts? I guess w/ skin like Luke, but then why take it off when she's being evil?
  • If Leia does not appear earlier in the film, the graverobber's identity will be obvious. Everyone knows Carrie Fischer's in this film.

Unless they hint at her being elsewhere at the beginning of the movie, or she removes her artificial skin to hide her identity.

I'm having a hard time believing Leia will be the evil one in this film... I think we're looking at an entirely new character.

The mechanical bits could be a disguise. Either she applies them as a mask or she refrains from covering them with false flesh when she is being openly evil.

She would have a respectable public face and a scary secret evil face (like Palpatine).

It's what I do.. would do... in that situation... if I ever found myself in that situation...

That's probable too but look how badly received the PT villains not connected to the OT were.

Maul...looked good didn't do anything.

Dooku cast well but what little he did do was often ridiculous.

Grevious ...oh my...

Like it or not the saga is a family saga now and modern cinema is formulaic so I would be surprised if they resisted doing another family twist reveal.

There was a rumor a while back about there being an "Empire" type twist in Episode VII.  I think Leia turning out to be the villain (a cyborg villain no less) would certainly be an unexpected twist, even more so than Luke.

 That's not very nice.

Sometimes the truth hurts.

I think you guys are all on a lark of speculation right now about her being in the costume, but I really do half expect some EU "explanation" for her facial deformities--like Luke's in-Universe face-change explanation in ESB.

Maybe they'll say the one-armed Wampa, seeking revenge, sniffed out Leia's "Force" which bears a sibling's resemblance to Luke's, and then swiped off her kisser, leading to semi-successful reconstruction by a rookie surgeon-droid in a hilarious darkly comic episode.

Just because Carrie doesn't look like she did in 1983, is not a free license to insult her. Stay classy, ot.com.

Been following this thread for a while, thought I'd throw my 2 cents in regards to the villain...

What if it is a partially rebuilt Vader? Or what if he somehow survived the fire in RoftJ and what we're seeing in the concept artwork is his robotic skeleton? kinda like a Terminator

I think most people assume that Vader is dead and gone for good BUT I wouldn't be at all surprised if they tried to find a way to bring him back. He is after all one of the most famous movie villains ever and a lot (not all) of fans would rather see a movie with him in it over a new villain. I don't think it's to inconceivable to think that they will resurrect him somehow.

Well, we did see him A) die and B) appear as a ghost, so I would say he's pretty dead.

Ugh, that would be awful.

EDIT: Though Harmy's post dispelled any worry I had that that might be the case.

Am I the only OTer sick of Darth Vader?

The OT is the only SW-related media I enjoy. I haven't really been exposed to the EU at all and I, like many of you, don't enjoy the PT.

With that being said, I just don't find images like the following cool at all. I wouldn't ever make this my PC background. It stinks like teenage B.O., testosterone-filled LAN parties, and slimy energy drinks.

wtf

Has it always been this way? I don't remember Star Wars being so clearly-marketed-to-hyper-teenage-boys in the mid-90s.

Does anyone really enjoy these silly massive multicolored lightsaber battles? I don't even think twelve-year-old me would consider this "cool".

wtf

Is this what people want? If so, then I feel very... different.

I come to Star Wars for moments like this one.

yay

And this one.

yay

Now—don't get me wrong—moments like the following are a lot of fun, sure.

fun

But that doesn't lead to this party. WTF is going on here?

wtf

A picture is worth a thousand words. Post 102 is worth more.

I’m late to the party, but I think this is the best song. Enjoy!

Vader is dead, but that doesn't mean his legacy can't influence others to evil ends.

Oh, sure. My giant-picture-post was driven by my experience in seeing so many people gush over Darth Vader.

That is one ill-fitting space samurai suit.  Like, deliberate ironic cosplay bad.

Author

Well, he is one of the most iconic movie villains of all time. I think even non fans know who he is.

Where I thought Episode III goofed was in not giving us enough Vader. He was front and center in the ads, and photos like these were a tad misleading.

We only got Vader in suit for mere minutes. But that ship has sailed.

There is no way to have him living in the sequels, without undercutting the events of ROTJ, and pulling a retro continuity kick to the nuts worthy of Marvel comics.

The costume makers on Episode III took it upon themselves to "fix" everything they thought was wrong with the original costume. Continuity? We don't need no stinking continuity! ;)

Yeah I totally agree. All I'm saying is, I wouldn't be surprised if they found some way to resurrect him in the film. I'd also rather they didn't, but it is Hollywood after all...

I didn't enjoy this scene, but for somewhat different reasons than yours (I don't think I have to go into detail as to why.).

Anyone think there's a chance we'll see a return of Alec Guinness as Obi Wans ghost? Considering they are creating a whole scene of Philip Seymour Hoffman in the last hunger games, I'd imagine it could be quite possible.

Preferred Saga:
1/2: Hal9000
3: L8wrtr
4/5: Adywan
6-9: Hal9000
