Sorry about that. It was the only window I had open.

If you see the "forum offline" message, it's intentional, not an error that needs to be reported.

Hopefully, we won't see any more outages on the new server. That was the point of the migration.

 It seems worse, actually.

I haven't noticed any myself (then again, there wasn't much activity today and I didn't visit the site much as a result--was that because of outages?). Before the move, the site was going down multiple times per day, thankfully only for a few minutes at a time.

Hey, did anyone notice that the forum was down for a few hours the other day?

I'm unable to get on nine times out of ten since the migration.  Am I the only one?

Author

I think so...I haven't had a problem yet.

Author

Nor have I.  It's been a substantial improvement for me.

Are you getting any error messages? If so, take a screencap, and send a message to Jay.

Where were you in '77?

You know what I think?  I think it was a conscious decision on Jay's part to keep the class clown's post count from reaching 40,000 ;)

Hey, we love ya Frink!

It just says the forum is offline for maintenance.

Speaking from an obvious point of view, since the forum is obviously no longer offline for maintenance, I declare this to be an obvious attempt at misinformation.

Obviously, I blame Zoidberg.

You're accessing the site on the old server if you get that message. Try clearing your local DNS cache. Your ISP's DNS servers might also be to blame.

I like the white on gray.  Makes the forum looks like a Death Star panel or something!

It's definitely my local cache, I've had no problems on my phone since this morning but still having the problem on my PC where I have not cleared the cache.

Having said that, how do I clear the cache in Firefox?

Author

Click on Options, then Advanced, then the Network tab. You should then see the button to flush the cache. :)

Alternatly, go to Google and type the following: "How do I clear cache in Firefox?"

Don’t do drugs, unless you’re with me.

Thanks, Ric.

I had already tried that and it didn't work, so I thought maybe there was another cache I was missing.  But all last night into this morning, I was getting the maintenance message on my phone as well.  So problem not solved.

If the problem is with my ISP, how on earth can I fix that?  They don't even speak intelligible English.

Out again all last night.  This morning it was out until I cleared my cache on my phone.  Seems like the cache thing works for a while, until it doesn't work and I have to do it again.

And I haven't been able to get on with my PC in who knows how long.

Switch your DNS servers to google DNS. ( I can't send the link because I'm on a phone, but search "using google DNS") This should hopefully fix it.

That's why the forums were so quiet before this afternoon.

Seems to be working so far.  Thanks!
