Somehow I have this distinct memory of one of the Jabba subtitles being too wide for this zoomed-in version, so they had to pan across the frame during the subtitles to make them all readable. Or was that on one of the VHS-releases?

 On Sat1 the Jabba subtitles were equal cut of like the ones from Greedo:

Nope, just like I remembered:

 Just noticed: take a look at Bib Fortuna ... looks like he's surprised about the appearing subtitle!

Rogue One is redundant. Just play the first mission of DARK FORCES.

To my surprise, Austria's ORF aired an HD broadcast of the theatrical cut of TPM in 2012.
I didn't know such a thing would even exist. It certainly doesn't look like an upscale of an SD source to my eyes. I could have sworn they had shown the DVD version previously.

The interesting thing about this Theatrical Cut is that the quality is superior to the 1080p HDTV version, as in white areas show less heavy grain and the color balance seems more accurate (no major pink hue). I recorded it back in the 2012 onto my UPC DVR, unfortunately only from the night before the Podrace onwards and there is no way converting that stupid UPC codec to save it as a proper video on my computer without breaking the box open and causing the warranty to expire (it's only a rental).

Next time it's on I will ask someone to save it for me proper.

I hope someone could get me this version, but remember also the sound mix was different to the other two (DVD & Blu Ray) versions. I also hope it's the cinema sound, either in DD Stereo or 5.1.

Next time it airs on ORF HD, I will post the info.

It would be awesome to have an HDTV theatrical version of TPM.  I hope it gets capped.

I think in the last time they show a HDTV scan of the DVD-version, which have a different sound-mix, the Taxi-scene in Coruscant and some scenes have different matte paintings where details in the background are a little different. :(

Pleased to see how well ORF1 matches our unified theory.
Only one frame is missing ~59620

However, in practice you must take into account the “fuckwit factor”. Just talk to Darth Mallwalker…

Someone should make a copy of the ORF1 recording that either adds that frame from another source or duplicates/blanks that one frame, and then sync it to the cinema dts. You would then get a mostly consistent theatrical TPM experience, probably the best you'll ever get until/unless Team -1 comes around with TPM footage...

Nobody sang The Bunny Song in years…

Any chance of getting an English version/ translation of this discussion, lol?

Yeah, somebody should purchase that DVR from Starman.
Wonder how much replacement fee the service provider would charge in case he got burgled ?

cORF= ffVideoSource("ORF1DVB Star Wars Episode I German Theatrical.mp4")

cSync= trim(cORF, 00091, 59711)+ trim(cORF, 59711, 0)

return cSync

The hungarian crawls are included on the BD set with seamless branching[…].

Yes, I know, I have them, but I need the originals with 4:3 Pan&Scan picture, but “The Phantom menace” is the most important, because of it’s cinema version and original stereo-mixed DD2.0 sound. I have the 1995 and 1997 hungarian VHS versions and Episode 1&2, only Episode3 and the original Trilogy from 1993 are missing in my hungarian VHS collection, I have the Hungarian DVD from Episode3 and downloads from the Hungarian 1993 Versions, but I prefer original cassettes for my collection. But for the old versions of the Prequels and the Special Edition, digital TV-rips would be the same Version as on VHS, just would have a better quality. If you want, we also can talk Hungarian.

Sorry for not being here for a long time, but I have some problems in my life.

I have to thank for everyone, you all did a great research.

I just have two questions:

Where can I get the German/Austrian ORF1 TVrip of TPM Theatrical Version and is there an older 4:3 (PAN&SCAN) Version of the Hungarioan ROTS, like from the others (I have a Gemany PAN&SCAN on original VHS, yes from 2005)?

I will try to be here regularly from now on, at least once a week or more.

Greetings from your skywalker89 😄
