Somehow I missed the last several posts. Some good ideas!
How hard would it be to have this iconic Trek battle mixed into the canyon scene where Luke gets ambushed by the Sand People? ;)
Threepios fall could trigger the boulder that falls on the Gorn...
Kirk's bamboo cannon could be what knocks Artoo out earlier in the movie.
Alternatively, you could have the canyon scene from Raiders playing out at the same time, as it was filmed in the same location.
Where were you in '77?
Could you work in a few seconds of this?

When Luke uses his binoculars, could he see a random montage of clips from other films with desert locations such as...

I like the way you think. The third image is coming up broken though.

Thanks!
More films with desert that would be funny to see included.
Ice Pirates
The Road Warrior (Mad Max II)
"Spacehunter: Adventures in the Forbidden Zone"

Also, I was thinking how you should try to have only scenes from the Star Wars Holiday Special playing on any monitors that may be in any of the shots.
Scenes like
“First feel fear, then get angry. Then go with your life into the fight.” - Bill Mollison
In "Dune", there is a shot of Stilgar where he says
"It is the legend!"
Somehow that may be funny in the right place.

I'm not sure how obscure you want to get with this project, but there is a very funny scene in the 1968 cult film "Head" staring The Monkees, with a coke machine in the middle of the dessert.

Could you incorporate C.O.R.A. from Battlestar Galactica into Luke's fighter for the Death Star battle scenes? I would love to hear her voice responses (with Starbuck taken out) during the battle.
C.O.R.A. Scene One Scene Two Scene Three
EDIT: Doesn't Luke say the line "Jealous R2?" in one of the films? R2 could be jealous of C.O.R.A.
CORA is an acronym for "Computer, Oral Response Activated."
CORA is an advanced flight computer installed in Recon Viper One, designed to not only assist the pilot in flying during long patrols, but also keep him entertained.
CORA's voice is distinctly feminine, and it exhibits a flirtatious demeanor when interacting with Starbuck. Despite the apparent advanced intelligence of the unit, it fails to prevent Robber from stealing the Recon Viper, even assisting him by flying as he directed.
Capable of maneuvering the Viper extremely competently and precisely, Starbuck has CORA perform a maximum-G climb that causes a Cylon Raider to crash into the planetoid Proteus (The Long Patrol).

As that BSG episode was an inspiration for Knight Rider, K.I.T.T. has to be in the movie somewhere? ;)
Maybe save him for Jedi...

That would be great for when Luke talks to R2 in the X-wing.
On the subject of desert stuff filmed in the same place. Isn't there a Mr Show sketch spoofing Jesus Christ Superstar in the desert?
Ah yes...

This shot also allows for funny business as seen through the macrobinoculars.
He could be looking at the Spaceballs comb guys...

Something similar may have been suggested before but how about when Vader shouts "What!" (at the end of the rench run) you then cut to Terry Gilliam shouting "What!" from The Holy Grail. From this bit...

There may be other funny useses of the word "What" that people could suggest. Maybe Mace Windu's Force-Ghost could chime in with the Pulp Fiction "What" refrence (A callback to ROTR).

Good idea...but what's a "rench" run. ;-)

I see what you did there.
Obi Wan: Tell Obi Wan young Luke, what brings you out this far?
Luke: This little droid.......He claims to be the property of an Obi Wan Kenobi.......do you know who he's talking about?
Obi Wan: Obi Wan Kenobi? Obi Wan. Now that's a name Obi Wan not heard in a long time....a long time...
Luke: I think my uncle...
Obi Wan: A long time....
Luke: I think...
Obi Wan: A long time....
Luke: I think my uncle knows him. He said he was dead.
Obi Wan: Oh he's not dead. Not yet.
Luke: You know him?
Obi Wan: Well of course Obi Wan knows him. He's me. Obi Wan hasn't gone by the name of Obi Wan since before you were born.
I believe we settled on "Well of course Obi-Wan Knows Obi-Wan, Obi-Wan is Obi-Wan. Obi-Wan hasn't gone by the name of Obi-Wan since before Luke was born."fairuz hidayat said:

And that it would be an extra on the ROTR DVD.

I know I’ve made some very poor decisions recently.

Maybe cut to the shot of the people desperately trying to cover up the fossil when the shuttle takes off in the background?
