I had a pair of Ring-necked Doves for a while. I let them out of their cage about once a week so they could fly around the house. They usually stayed around the same place and nearly always returned to their cage at night. One of them always picked on the other, and the latter died after a while. At the time of my last post in this thread, I still had one, but I sold him because I didn't feel I was giving him enough attention, since the fish interested me more.

I've also taken care of a couple baby blackbirds that fell out of their nests. One died, but another, which hardly had any feathers when we found it, we (my dad and I for the most part) raised it until it grew feathers and was starting to get to active to be safely left in its nest on top of the fridge. We released it and with the coaxing of its parents (I'm surprised sometimes at the concern birds have for their babies) it made it up a fairly large pine tree and rejoined them.

My dad's family (or maybe it was my grandpa's--I can't remember) raised seven baby sparrows, including teaching them how to fly. They went south and returned to the house the following year.
