In many ways, the Falcon is "home" to our heroes as much as the Enterprise is to Kirk and company.

We didn't get enough of the MF in Jedi, and we never got a scene with Han properly reunited with her. Even Star Trek 4 had a homecoming scene. The Klingon Bird of Prey's bridge set changed from Trek III to give the characters that familiar positioning. Kirk would have looked silly sitting on Kruge's high chair.

The ROTJ deleted scenes with anonymous rebels running around in the Falcon is sort of like watching strangers who have moved into your old house.

There is no beloved hunk of junk in the prequels, and the Jedi seem to change ships more than their socks. ;)

Also in the deleted sandstorm scene from Jedi you can hear Han Solo say something like "hello old girl" just before he goes up the ramp. I don't think they should've cut this scene, or Luke's alternate opening.

The Falcon does have character, though I wonder if it's still going to be as unreliable 30 years on. It would be a bit obvious, but kind of right.

That would be great if they've been apart for a while and he's missed his ship, but surely from his perspective he was just at cloud city.

Full disclosure - I am not an expert on Carbon Freezing.

as fun as that stuff is I think it works better if you can't really be sure if Luke is full of himself or he really has planned for everything.

I'd hope that if the Falcon is featured heavily in the new films that they don't repeat the OT by having is constantly breaking down or barely running.
