Just curious. If someone donates how would the finished version be distributed?

It's premature to say right now how it will be distributed, but it definitely will be once finished. That's the whole point of this project.

A couple days ago the seller sent an email update with the attachment below saying, "Next. Hard cardboard."

I'm hoping it will be on its way to North America sometime this week.

Well. I just read this artictle and would like to help you. Tell me where i can send the money. And i have some questions please.

1. Which extra scenes does that 35mm reels include? (Maybe this?)

2. When and where will we be able to release it?

By the way, i only found this page by luck! More presence in other media (like facebook groups) should help.

 1. Ah yes, the bread/knife scene, which is described in the original script and takes place after Betterville camp. The print hasn't arrived yet so we don't know if it includes this scene or any other deleted/never-before-seen scenes other than the skeleton shot. You can send your donation to my paypal address provided in the post above.

2. TBD.

3. Too much exposure may not necessarily be a good thing. Just keep an eye on this thread here and over at AMPS.

The print is now stateside.

Great news! When will you be able to assess the content of the print?

I will visually inspect the print reel by reel to determine its overall condition and for the presence of any unseen footage other than the skeleton shot.

This may take a while but I should have an update by the end of the month.

Is it possible to give us a preliminary impression of the Technicolor IB print? For example, any other unusual finds, aside from the skeleton shot?

My apologies I've been updating the project thread over at http://amps.boards.net/.

For several reasons I decided not to visually inspect the print and immediately forwarded it for scanning. The print should reach its destination today or tomorrow based on the latest tracking info.

The individual scanning the print estimates it will take approximately 2 weeks to clean and digitize the print.

I'll update this thread as soon as I hear back.

A quick and dirty dry scan of reel 1 was performed yesterday. The print is dirty, missing some frames, has a lot of wear but the colours are excellent. It will undergo extensive cleaning and then wet scanned, which will significantly improve image quality.

I won't comment on the colours at this time but when comparing reel 1 of the print with the Mondo BD and MGM 4K BD I noticed there is 11 seconds of extra footage of Steven exchanging glances with AE and his son while AE is standing at his entrance.

As shown in the screenshot below there is a Titanus logo prior to the opening credits:

Below are some screenshots at Steven's ranch. The extra footage comes immediately after the 2nd screenshot:

It's inevitable you will be drawing colour comparisons with the various home releases now that I've posted these images.

Thoughts?

Being an IB print we will need to adjust the colour slightly, as it was most likely timed for Xenon/Carbon Arc projection, but so far it looks great. Much better than the colour in the BD.

In order to adjust from the original intended lighting source (xenon, carbon arc), in which direction does the timing need to shift?

Usually away from green just a smidge.

Hi, thats my first post here.

I am a fan of GBU, and I am very disappointed by the colors of the new 4k MGM master. So, it is great that you guys found this rare 35mm IB Tech print as color reference and maybe source of some lost scenes.

In a german Blu-ray forum a professional film restorer, who did the restaurations for the DVD editions of "A Fistfull of Dollars" and "For a Few Dollars More" also criticised the colors of the new MGM BD. He posted this comparison. Maybe it can be used also as indication for how the colors of the 35mm IB Tech print should look like:

FWIW, here's a lossy raw capture (i.e no colour correction) screenshot of the IB tech:

The last pic is very close to the colors of the old italian DVD of GBU.
Well, I don't know whether it is the lack of color correction to a carbon arc light source or the print has been damaged, but it looks like there is to much magenta in the first pics.
Despite the fact, that the film restorer posted this comparison, the colors of his restaurations of the first dollar movies look more like mondo.
I personaly prefer the colors of the mondo Blu-ray, but I am very excited how your print will look like, when it is color corrected to a carbon arc.
